We are currently staying at this hotel and have been for the last week. The worst night sleep I’ve ever gotten and I live in downtown Chicago. There is a store alarm or car alarm (depending on what excuse the hotel staff gives you) that goes off from about 6 pm to oh wait it goes off the whole day and night. It never stops. We tried talking to the front desk and they said they have had loads of complaints and are working on it. Then we ask for a manager. Whoever they claim to be a manager says they are sorry they have heard of such noise but nothing they can do. Then we finally get the actual manager and wow. Just wow. He might be the biggest jerk I’ve ever experienced in my travels. He has never heard a complain about noise. And if we have noise complaints we just need to find a way to deal with them. He has bigger issues. So thank you renaissance for making us feel like we are valuable guests. We almost enjoyed our stay.

Dear Mary E, Thank you for your feedback and your time spent with us. We appreciate it. Sorry to hear about your experience while with us on property. Sometimes we can't control the noise, in this case an alarm from a building across the street. We will have a look to check which manager helped you with this matter. We do hope to see you back soon!

Breakfast buffet was good as far as taste and selection. Props and kudos to Rosy at the Fresco Cafe!! I agree that original booking for complimentary breakfast was misleading and ultimately denied at check in by front desk agent Niek. Very disappointing and not clear at time of booking the "Get Away Package". Also, there was almost always a line to ask a simple question at the front desk.

Overall, the beach at the hotel and the cocktails were excellent. Location near the airport was convenient. Shopping was fair.

The hotel looks very modern with lots of designer shops in the hotel lobby complex e.g. LV, Cartier etc.
The hotel itself puts a lot of effort into maintaining the exterior - lots of people painting and renovating, it's a shame they don't put the same effort into the inside. Some of the furniture in the room was clearly damaged and they could clean the rooms a lot better alongside replenishing supplies e.g. shower gel, tissues - this did not happen as it should.
The hotel runs a boat that comes an collects you from underneath the hotel lobby and takes you to the private island where the famous flamingos are. The boat ride is about 15 minutes, it is also said to run every 15 minutes but we waiting 30 sometimes for the boat to come. The private island is astonishing! Completely worth it. It does get quite busy and you will witness a lot of people quite literally chasing the flamingo's around - sad really, because when you leave them alone they relax and you can get some astonishing photos. They offer a beach service on the beach, but clearly only some employees are interested in this. Some are extremely rude and refuse to even speak to you if you are not in a private cabana - the staff need proper training to be honest. Which is a shame because a lot of the staff are actually nice, so a few do let them down terribly.
The hotel is split into adults only and family suites. The family side looked awful - outdated and run down. I stayed in the adults only side, the pool here also has a DJ that plays and it overlooks the main strip - which has a few restaurants and souvenir stores.
The airport is quite literally down the road - although there is always a lot of traffic so allow 20 minutes for this journey although if there is no traffic it would only take about 5 minutes.
I would definitely stay here again. It was really good!

Just returned two weeks ago from a 4 night stay. This is our second stay here. We are gold members of Marriott and there were very little benefit. It was 3:30 and our room initially wasn't ready. I complained and we were given another room. I was suppose to get a partial ocean view but it was more like the parking lot. I was torn on whether to give this hotel an average or very good review. Staff was extremely nice and professional. Bell staff excellent ready to help with questions and to grab your bags on arrival. Boat staff to private island fantastic helping those of us that have some difficulty in exiting and entering boat. Some of our days the tide was too high and we had to go across the street to take the boat. I love that there is a shuttle in the lobby area to take the shuttle over to the other property the Marina time share hotel. We had the most amazing breakfast at the Dutch pancake house. The Driftwood restaurant is a very quick walk and you can do dinner for about $70 without drinks for two people. Love the fresh fish and the excellent service. Really disappointed that cruise ship people were sitting in the seats pool side and we could never find a seat at the pool our entire stay. No one was asked for proof of hotel guest status and towels were able to be grabbed by anyone. This is a definite crappy practice. I was not aware but they SELL day tickets to the private island. Makes it more crowded than it should be with prime seats less available. We did love the lobby starbucks and great girls serving. Happy hour was a great plus. Food on the island was reasonable and not bad, service great. Island staff were really really nice. Our last day before switching hotels we wanted to hang out at the pool. I am not sure why they would do this during prime sun time but they were using a HUGE crane to move a huge air conditioner unit for more than an hour. Seemed extremely unsafe and we had to go back to our room. Shocked to see how unsafe they were conducting the removal. Not sure why they didn't choose to do this at like 8 am or earlier. Our room was very rough around the edges. Lots of rust in the bathroom area and could truly use a fresh coat of paint. Carpet in the hallways was stained. Overall our room was clean but needs some update. Housekeeping staff very nice. Overall far from perfect and could use the management to up their game. Would I go back, probably. There are however some better choices.

This was our second trip to the Aruba Renaissance Ocean Suites. We travelled with all of our adult kids and did the all-inclusive. The island makes this resort so special and taking a boat back and forth adds to the fun! The island has everything you need to enjoy the day. Shade, new chairs, great food and drink, and above all else, amazing staff!
We were a group of 7 and felt so well taken care of. We were fortunate to have Maria Reyes taking care of us at the beach! We had a lot of requests and she was always eager to take care of them. She genuinely wanted us to enjoy our days and have the best possible vacation. She is a gem! Ricardo, at the beach bar, was very attentive, and did a great job.
The quality of the food is exceptional for an all-inclusive. We loved LG's and the new Italian restaurant Fresco. Again we were a group of 7 and everyone one of us always raved about their meal. Once again the staff made a huge impression! Jean at LG's, Rosalea, Ximena,Christia and Cleon at Fresco's and Dorathea and friends at Acquarius.. They all took such good care of us, we made an effort to get to know them as well so that we would be able to let the hotel know how important they were to our satisfaction!! At the pool bar, Nelson was the polar opposite of everyone else I mentioned. He actively ignored customers at the bar. He would give side glances to indicate you should hold on, but then never come over. He actually made us not want a drink! We were all pleased when Rudman was working, and we could enjoy the pool atmosphere!
Front desk staff was less than helpful! I tried multiple times via email and telephone before our departure to reach someone. As lifetime platinum I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of response. I finally got a in- hotel reservationist to oversee our request to have our rooms as close together as possible. The room manager never returned my call. The rooms we were given were very worn. The shower floor all chipped, duct tape on the shower door, and the air filters were so coated with dust, we asked to have them changed! Not anything I should expect from a category 8 Marriott Hotel. Also no turn down service, which is not a big deal, but with showering after the beach, fresh towels in the morning would be nice.
The restaurants, amenities, and most staff at this hotel are fantastic, please get the physical hotel and front desk staff working as well!
