My boyfriend and I stayed here from 5/31/18-6/5/18. I came across this rental after my initial rental cancelled on me and thank God it got cancelled because I found this place. Vine Cottages is exceptional and I have traveled and rented properties over the last three years. First, when we arrived GPS took us straight to the location and Michael (hostess) was there to answer any questions we had. The location is ideal and in Antigua you will need a car to get around as taxis can be expensive. We rented a car which was the best way to see the island. Now our cottage was clean and spotless enough room for my boyfriend and I to have our own space. We didn't use the balcony and I only went out there to take pictures of the beautiful views. The pool was nice although they are working on making it more blue. We had daily cleaning service and this was wonderful and unexpected. I have never been to a place that I've rented where they cleaned every day. We wondered how they knew when we left the cottage because each day we left at different times and each time we came back it was clean. The wifi went down for a day and a half once and then came back up.
I do have a few suggestions to make this place even more better: 1-Exterminate as there are lots of mosquitos (we did get our own bug spray), 2-The balcony could use cleaning/dusting although we didn't use it, 3-A few more pots and pans needed.
Unfortunately, when I booked the trip I didn't know that it was the slow season and most bars and clubs shut down in Falmouth where we were staying. We had the chance to visit a few bars there (Live and Paparazzi). We also went to Shirley Heights and you can see views of Guatemala from there and there is a BBQ and live bands which was really nice! In St. John which is the capitol where things are happening we went to King's Casino(there are a few casinos). that Friday night because they have seafood night which was ok but we probably would have been better off ordering from a regular menu. We went to Nelson's Dockyard which had nice views during the day and it's $11 to get in. Now, we were able to get in for free and came back We cooked most of our meals, but had the opportunity to sample the island cuisine.
I will definitely come back to Vine Cottages and I will come back before or after the off season.
Tips: Go food shopping at the supermarket that is close to the airport (XPZ supermarket) as this is the biggest supermarket with more food options than the ones close by Vine Cottage as we ended up shopping here twice annndd bring your own canvas food shopping bags because Antigua doesn't provide paper/plastic bags and will charge you for a shopping bag. Rent a car unless you intend to stay in St. John, ask the locals about things to do, bring or buy bug repellent. Oh and we went to Pigeon beach....wasn't the best beach I've been too, but close to Vine Cottages so visit another beach.
Can't wait to come back!
