Great stay for the family. Lots of things to do nearby for our children and the cottage and village were lovely.

Would recommend and Louise is a great host.

Jon

“Cosy Christmas!”
Reviewed 2 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We recently have come back from a week’s visit at Patch Cottage for our first Christmas as a married couple. We had high expectations which were all met! The cottage is extremely cosy with beams, thick walls, wooden floor boards and best of all a wood burning stove. We had no problem in the kitchen making our Christmas Day feast as was well equipped (dishwasher came in handy!) although the wobbly table (due to the lovely tiled floor) made it interesting! Upon arrival, there is a welcome basket of local bread, eggs, honey, chocolates etc. which is a very nice touch. Lovely garden with the added fun touch of the cows at the bottom. The added benefit of wifi was perfect, it meant we didn’t have to worry about the limited phone signal as we made calls via the wifi (although sometimes it’s nice to be cut off!) We were able to take advantage of the excellent walks around Winfrith Newburgh and further up to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. We found the corner shop a bit limited to re-fresh over the Christmas period so a bit more information where the nearest larger shops are would have been a help. Would recommend The Sandford Pub if you have Coeliac Disease as a wide range of choice of food being offered that is suitable and also The Bishops in Lulworth Cove. Only tiny negative was when we arrived the bath and sink in the bathroom had quite a few hairs in from I’m assuming previous guests but we found the cleaning products and gave it a once over and everything else was clean. A little note was the driveway was a bit tight to enter due to the fence on the right hand side, if you have a large 4x4 you would struggle to have enough space to turn in. We will be back though!!!

Thank you for your review- yes the problems of phone signals and small village stores in a country village! Really sorry about the hairs in the sink and bath can't work out what happened there as they were cleaned and polished before you arrived but must have been an oversight on my part! On arriving I always tell guests that they can contact me anytime if they need anything and sorry you found trouble locating the larger shops online. I have now noted down in the info pack where these are located. Thank you both for the feedback it is useful for future guests. all the best in 2017

“Lovely cottage break”

Everything is exactly as pictured and described. Idealic location with lovely garden and it was lovely to go and see the cows at the end of the garden each day! You really felt like you had got away from the hussle and bussle.
Very cosy and welcoming and lots of home comforts. Fantastic power shower which was great, along with the fluffy towels and lovely bedding.
One word of advise/warning to ones who are unsteady on their feet or very young childres is the stairs and landing is very dangerous and suitable. My mum was very unsteady on her feet and needed help going up and down the stairs the whole stay. Also, the bathroom was downstairs so those who need the loo in the night need to negiate the stairs everytime.
Would love to come back but not with elderly parents!

Thank you for your kind review. As per the description there are
steep winding stairs. There is a child gate at the top of the stairs which parents should be vigilant in closing whilst toddlers and young children are upstairs.

“Wonderful weekend”
Reviewed 21 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

My husband, 2.5yr old son and myself arrived at Patch Cottage on Friday late afternoon, on arrival Louise the own greeted us and wished us a lovely weekend. The cottage is beautiful, very cosy and bags of character.
The whole cottage was fabulously clean and care and attention was second to none.
Our little boy loved his room! A lovely sized second bedroom reached through the master bedroom. It was his first time sleeping in a "big boys" bed and we had no problems at all. The bed was extremely comfortable (I had to climb in at 5:30am due to birds waking him). The master bedroom had a lovely airy feel to it, very calming and the bed very comfortable.
Downstairs the lounge is a good size and has a log burner which we used for two of the three nights. Wood can be brought from the lovely little local shop in the village.
We loved playing in the garden with our son, the cows at the back were a treat as were the chickens that came to say hello this morning just before we left. The little "green house" as our sun called it......the summer house, was lovely to sit in and watch our son play with the toy cars that were found under the seats.
Overall a fab little get away, perfect for Lulworth and surrounding areas.? We can't wait to come again!

Thank you so much for such a lovely comprehensive review. I'm especially glad that your son enjoyed the bedroom and the garden. The cottage certainly has a fairy tale feel that children enjoy. You are more than welcome to visit again and thank you for being such excellent guests!

“cosy - quiet - relaxing”
Reviewed 30 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We enjoyed a lovely 5 night stay at Patch Cottage - the perfect choice for a winter break. The cottage is full of character - beams - wood burning stove - iron bedstead with feather quilt plus all the expected modern conveniences - central heating - dishwasher - lashings of hot water etc The kitchen is well equipped - there was a lovely welcome pack and there is access to a pretty garden and summer house - parking at the rear of the cottage allows for easy unloading of the car on arrival. Wifi signal was good - phone signal a bit more hit and miss We loved our stay. Thank you Louise for all the useful information you gave us prior to our arrival

Thank you Jan for your lovely comments. I am so glad you had a good stay and made the most of the wonderful location. The mobile phone reception is a problem in the cottage unfortunately it seems to work better at the bottom of the garden!
