We had family visiting from the UK so we decided to do some sight seeing. We hadn't got round to this since moving to Malta in June.
Firstly, the grumpiest lady was at the ticket booth, who provided absolutely no information at all..she was not too happy to answer any questions. We got down to the boats and whilst it is true you will never wait more than 15 mins, the reason being they rush you at full speed to get off the boat. You're barely seated before they pull away and you put your life vests on and present tickets while alrewdy starting the journey. There's about 8 people squashed onto the boat which makes it hard to see when you are in the middle. The caves are pretty but you are going from cave to cave so fast along with many other boats up front and behind. No time for hovering or looking around. Impossible to take any pictures around the other on the boat or the other boats taking the tour. We went on a Sunday so perhaps it was just the worst time to go but given there were 4 of us paying 8 EUR I wonder if it would be cheaper to get your own boat and sightsee on own agenda.

I visited here on a whim and was very pleased I did so.
The waters of Malta are the cleanest in the Mediterranean making the water so clear you can see meters down. The cliffs of Malta a littered with caves. A visit to the Blue Grotto allows toy to see both from a small boat.
You will see down into the incredibly clear water the bluest if blue and greenest if green.
You will also sail your little boat into a sea cave which is a great experience.
It only costs 8€.
The Hagar Qim temples are very close by so these sites are worth doing together.
The village from where you catch the boat tour is connected by public bus.
There are a good number of places to eat and drink as well.
Also, take your swimming gear as there is a spot for jumping off into the sea here as well.

Visited on a hot, sunny weekend morning. Car/coach park was manic, queues were long. There's no finesse to the trip; you're shepherded onto a small boat, given about a 20 minute ride with virtually no commentary and then herded off again. The views were good and the water was fairly calm, and a fabulous blue in the caves. EUR8 for what you get is a bit expensive though. Worth travelling any distance only if you have also have other things planned in the same area.

The Blue Grotto is located on the southern coast of Malta, west of Wied iz-Zurrieq facing the little deserted islet of Filfla.
It was not extremely busy when we went but I hear it can be during summer. To enjoy the caves at their best, go early in the morning when the sun is lower in the sky and the sea is calmer. There is a viewing platform on the road leading to site, where you can also enjoy this view. 8 Euros cost and takes about 25 minutes. You can get a bus from Valletta bus station to the Blue Grotto , but it will take about an hour. It's a small walk from the stop downhill to the boats but if you have to , you can pay 1 euro to be transported to the boats. Life jackets are provided.

When to this view point to take in the views surrounding the Blue Grotto. Absolutely stunning. On the way to the viewpoint, also saw a local with 3 beautiful falcons. You can also go further down to take a boat ride around the Blue Grotto.
