We stayed at Karin's place for 5 days and we had a wonderful time. The bedrooms are very nice, the view is fantastic , the swimmingpool is very beautiful and the breakfast is very good. Karin is always friendly and the surroundings are very interesting. When we visit Italy again, we wille return! A family from Maastricht.

Stayed: July 2011, travelled with family

I've just returned from a few days at Casa Spertaglia, Umbria, the latest trip of many over the last year as we renovate our house across the border in Tuscany. It was a lucky day when I stumbled across Casa S details in a Times article about B&B's, and immediately contacted Karin (the owner), as we needed somewhere as a base for our house-work trips. Since then we have stayed with her 7 or 8 times, both in the summer heat (+35), and the winter snow (yes it does snow in Umbria/Tuscany), and each time is better than the last.
The house is huge traditional Umbrian farmhouse, with THE best location in the area (just look at the pictures), perched on a hill, overlooking cypresses and olive groves by day and the twinkling lights of the Tiber valley by night.
Inside any of the seperate apartments (not just rooms here!), they are furnished with an eclectic mix of old and new furniture, which gives it that home-from-home feel. Karin speaks 4 languages so can give you a warm greeting wherever you are from, and she will set you up for a good day sightseeing with a hearty breakfast, or if you want to chill-out, then just sit by the newly installed pool, and enjoy that view.
Casa Spertaglia is located on the E45 highway, so you can be in Perugia in 40mins, Arezzo in 30 or if you want, Roma in 2hrs.
If you want a cosy base to explore that part of Italy, why not give Karin a call.
