1800NTD a night for a small, dirty, seemingly unkept room with a window facing the corridor outside, no privacy unless you keep the blinds shut. There was little more space than the (admittedly quite comfortable) bed available, just a dirty cupboard next to the bed and a coat hanger on the wall in the corner of the room.
There were cobwebs everywhere, dust and old hair on the floor, the telephone had a thick layer of old dust on it, the remote control was absolutely filthy and the thermos jug that you can fill up with hot water from the dispensers next to the elevator was so dirty with a massive layer of limescale I wouldn't even want to have used it after washing it off.
At least the bedsheets felt clean and the bathroom was acceptable, despite far from inviting for anything more than a quick 10 minute shower. Expect the minimum when you get here and don't be disappointed if it is still less than that.
Staff was quite cold but at least they were able to communicate in basic English and explain the necessary stuff. Wake up call for the sunrise train is offered. Breakfast is offered in the form of a voucher that you can use at a restaurant near the main parking lot, I didn't go there to try it so I can't speak for the quality of it.
Alishan is constantly overbooked and you can really feel it in this hotel. There is no need for them to renovate as the scarcity of beds available in town will let them have their costumers no matter what.
I can't speak for other hotels in Alishan but use this hotel here only as your last resort and hope that others will be better.
