Sol Duc is deep in the old growth forest of Washington's Olympic Peninsula. Delightfully, there is no wi fi service. (You can drive back down the road a mile or so and pull over if you must check in). The air is fresh, there are easy hiking trails in the vicinity, and the hot pools are all different temperatures so you can choose. There's a swimming pool, much cooler, maybe less than body temperature, when I was there. It's good for closing your pores after a soak, but hard to go for a swim in October. The trees were lovely. Fall is a good time to visit. There are swings and benches along the river that borders the resort.
The only complaint I would have, (and the reason for the 4 star instead of the 5 star rating) was the restaurant. The food wasn't great, the service very slow. However, we were there at the end of the season.
We rented a cabin without a kitchen, we had 2 queen size beds, very comfortable and enough room for 2.
I would go back again in a heartbeat. Maybe bring my own food to eat.
Being in the fresh air of the Olympic Mountains was a treat for me. It really is so beautiful there.More
