Owner description: A two-mile trail stretches across Ross Dam to Ross Lake.

At MP 134 off Rt. 20 North Cascades Highway, there's a small parking lot on the left hand side of the road traveling eastbound for the Ross Dam Trail. I got there at noon on a Friday and there was nowhere to park so I temporarily made my own parking spot to get out and check out what was here. The trailhead sign has Ross Lake Trail on it instead of Ross Dam. The hike descends 500 ft to Ross Dam. Allow 1-2 hours for this 2 mile round trip moderate hike.

This is also another way to get to the Ross Lake Resort if you happen to be staying there and don't mind hauling your lodging gear down the trail. Say what!

Make sure you spend enough time to enjoy the views. Even on a rainy day you get a good impression of the beautiful area.

If possible, I'd highly recommend the hike down to the Ross Dam. Not only was it a relatively easy hike (grandparents in their 60's and two kids ages 8 and 10 were able to do it...albeit with breaks) the views were amazing. Once on the Ross Dam, the wind was a bit unnerving but the views were completely worth it!

Hike down to Ross Lake Trail. It is a steep trail down to see Ross Dam. We stopped in the half way to Ross Lake Resort because that day was too hot and we did not bring water. I am surprise there is a resort down the mountain. Great view of the dam and lake. Good hike!

Once again he peacefulness we found in July was unexpected. The dam left a nice lake there too bad the fish do not think so. It was a nice quiet time just to take in the sights of the mountains, the dam, the lake and surrounding area.
