“Excellent stay, but ....”
Reviewed 17 December 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed for 3 nights in August, and the sense of seclusion is just as described.
We have stayed at the South Rim before, and while there are advantages to having the Grand Canyon on your doorstep, we fancied somewhere without the crowds this year.
"Our Little Ranch" is about 30 minutes easy drive to the south rim. It is also about 30 minutes from the town of Williams with its Route 66 heritage.
Our only experience of a western ranch has been watching TV westerns back home, so this was a real treat - made extra special with the addition of the horses, for whom Max provided food. The sunsets were fabulous, and I can imagine what it would have been like had we bothered to make use of the barbecue (we didn't bother as there were only two of us and the kitchen was so well equipped).
The only downside of the stay was provided by the booking agent, Flipkey. We paid a $250 dollar deposit which should have been returned within 10 days of us leaving the property. Max was quite happy for this to be returned in full, and released it straightaway, but it took Flipkey over 3 months, with a whole string of emails to finally get the money back to me (hence the delayed review). This may have been because we booked from the UK, but I don't know as no explanation was ever given, and apologies were thin on the ground and perfunctory.
I would unreservedly recommend a stay at the ranch; it was a wonderful 3 days and we would have loved to have stayed longer just relaxing there, having done all the tourist stuff.
Hopefully Flipkey will have been replaced as agents by now, but if you see their logo on the booking form, I would suggest contacting Max to find another agent

“A Most Memorable Experiance”
Reviewed 14 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

After spending three nights in Vegas, the peace and quiet here made a welcome change. Max and her husband were there to great us and show us where everything was. We only spent one night at the ranch (mores the pity) Sitting on a rocking chair, cold beer in hand while watching the most spectacular sunset, what more can a man want on his retirement birthday??? That's right another beer!
We loved the old world charm of this totally unique place and wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending it to anyone seeking a spot of tranquillity.
Thanks again.

“Wonderful retreat”
Reviewed 9 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Great location for the Grand Canyon, by far the best accommodation we stayed in. So many "extras" provided by the welcoming owners. Wonderful place to have a BBQ with stunning views of the sunset. So many amenities in the spacious, delightful ranch. Good food shopping at Williams, so pick up food on the way to the property.
Delightful!!! Many thanks Max

“Awesome ranch”
Reviewed 28 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We were only here two nights but I wish we could have stayed longer. The place was great, it had everything we could have needed. Three lovely double bedrooms and our friends daughter had a pull out sofa just off the living area for herself. There were plenty of provisions and we were advised on where to shop before hand. It is in the middle of nowhere so very dark at night so great for star gazing. I cannot fault this place at all. Lovely horses, friendly cat. All in all a great place.

Management Response

Thank you for choosing our home for your stay. We're happy you enjoyed your stay. The sweet feline is not our cat. We have fed the poor hungry little neighborhood kitty whenever it came around our home. The cat felt safe and loved and now is around our place daily.

“A Charming Place to Stay”
Reviewed 16 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The Ranch Home was cozy with all the comforts of home. There were lots of antiques and novel things decorating the home. Max and hubby were very nice and our 5 year old granddaughter took up with them, especially Max, right a way. The scenery was good with mountains in the distance and very stark land around. Quite different from our area which made it unique to us. About a 30 min drive to the Grand Canyon. Have supplies with you though, because it is 30 mins north of Williams and the closest wide spot in the road has a gas station and hotel diner but little else in the way of a store. Max told us this ahead of time so we knew to be prepared. She filled us in on the area very well. Max gave great directions and provided the key code to the house well in advance.
