“Best lodge in the park”

After visiting other lodges in the park, Many Glacier is definitely the best. It is surrounded by mountains and is right on the lake, breathtaking views. Excellent spot if you are a hiker. My 1st floor room (for those unable to climb stairs) was very nice, clean, remodeled in period style with a small balcony. The road getting to the lodge is very rough and not the easiest to find but worth the trip. There is a restaurant but plan on being there as soon as they open. All of the staff is very pleasant; bell hop, waiters, registration and service. I would give it a 5 except for the booking practice. Don't expect to get a lakeside room. You can't book a room until the particular opening day. After calling every couple minutes on the designated day we finally reached them and all the lakeside rooms were booked. I don't think this is possible unless they have some 'special' clientele for whom they save those rooms.

We ate two dinners and two breakfasts here. We had good food and friendly service. It's a little slow when you are tired after a long day in the park but I'm guessing g without kids, it would be no problem. It's an interesting space with great spots to see the lake and sunset.

We had two meals here on the same day.

First we had breakfast, before we did the ranger-led boat ride and hike to Grinnell Glacier. The buffet with the meat is a pretty good deal if you are looking at having a big breakfast before you do a long hike. The price isn't bad for the area too. A few members of our party go a la carte items like eggs, bacon, etc. and it was good. I got the steak & eggs. I thought the 8 oz steak would be the standard half-inch thick steak normally found. It took a little longer than usual to come out. When it did, it was a thicker cut, and excellently done. Very tender and seasoned just right. I would go back just to have that breakfast again. A pleasant surprise.

After our hike, we decided to eat in the dining room again. Our server was very pleasant, and the water person did a great job refilling our glasses. Having hiked 10 miles that day, that was a big plus!

For dinner we had the Bison Chili (medium heat), seared duck breast (good cherry chutney), Jidori chicken (nicely seasoned and presented), and rainbow trout. All entrees were hot and well-prepared.

For dessert we had the Montana Huckleberry Cobbler with icecream, and it was a nice way to finish the meal.

This was one of the better lodge meals we had.

The huge lobby of this place was one of the best parts, and the huge dining room for breakfast. The food was good and there was plenty of it.

The reason to eat here is for the view. The food was adequate, but like all restaurants in the national parks,it is over priced. Service was average. My wife and friends wife got the table while we were hiking and waited for us till we got there. The waiter obviously was annoyed that they had to wait for us and he was not able to turn the table fast enough. This showed in the service we received. Had prime rib. Was average. Dessert was the best part of the meal.
