Wasn’t expecting much from this place but was impressed by the facilities and hospitality. The rooms were basic but clean. The staff were super friendly as were the owners who we met at an evening bonfire get together. The restaurant/bar area was rustic and cosy and the food was good. A simple buffet breakfast was provided in the morning. The check in was in convenience store and had a good variety of items for sale. Would recommend this as a good place to stay to explore the area.

After several weeks quarantined at home with COLD, RAIN, & SNOW, I needed to get away to some place warm and dry so I headed to Death Valley to do "Social Distancing" my way. Over 5,000 sq. miles to choose from (probably under 100 people in the valley). Well I ended up at Panamint Springs Resort. Although rustic, I can not say enough good things about it. From the family that owns and run it, to the guests that were camping and staying there, I felt relaxed and at home (1 day turned into 3 and I booked another stay for next week). A HUGE thanks to Aaron (who even fixed my flat tire) and brother & sister Ben & Victoria and sister in- law Alexis and their Mom and Dad. They made me feel like family. They had a wealth of info on the area & told me things to do. Panamint Springs is not for everyone, but if you are looking for some place special, this place is rich in good old friendly hospitality.

The people working there were very nice. That being said, they mistakenly gave away our private cabin which we had booked six months in advance. Instead of our booked place, they offered a motel room. We refused and they eventually gave us a different cabin, attached to another with a screaming baby next door.

We booked one of the large tent cabins in March, 2020. We initially had some trouble contacting Panamint Springs Resort, but in the end it worked out. The check-in was easy, though we had to pay on-site rather than through Booking.com as we had thought.

The tent-cabin was nice and spacious and kept the rain off us just fine. The cots were serviceable, but had some fraying which made me worry they could tear on us, though they held up. Fire pits and picnic benches are on each site which is great. The bathroom accommodations were a little unsavory, but were functional in the end. That's probably my biggest point of contention at this site.

It was really nice camping out so close to Death Valley, and right from within the property you have lovely views. There are creosotes growing all around so you don't feel too separated from nature. The general store stocks maps on paper and bandana for around $8-10 and they will get the job done. They also are kind enough to give you directions to the nearby falls.

Check-out was even simpler than check-in and was no hassle at all.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to book a tent-cabin here.

Room tip: The large tent-cabins are around 50% larger, but have 2x as many cots. I don't think 3 cots would fit in a small tent-cabin.

Ok, this isn't a five star, luxury resort. Our room was old, very clean, and had basically no amenities, except for the very clear skies at night that allowed us to see the moon and the stars, the easy walk to the flats to experience the desert at night. The breakfast was delicious, and Ben, one of the owners was friendly, informative and passionate about the resort, the desert and the experience. No cell coverage, no internet, except at the restaurant (which by the way has great food and amazing pizza). This is a place to have an experience, to seriously get away from the noise and to try the basics. If you need fluffy towels, all the bells and whistles, this isn't the place for you. If you need to try something special, stay here.

Room tip: it's motel style, and all rooms face over the valley floor
