It’s disappointing to write a negative review but people need to be aware of the awful experience and that when raising issues with the duty manager they are ignored.

Room was not ready when wanting to check in at 5pm, two hours after official time. When it was ready the additional requests for the room were missed.

Restaurant was fully booked and we were offered the tapas and brassiere. This turns out not to have starters available only main meals along with no draught lager or cocktails.

Breakfast to the room turned up with no cutlery and on paper plates in a brown paper bag.

For the prices charged they need to remove a digit off the price. This hotel is not a patch on other 4 and 5 star hotels

Thank you Thornton Hall for the loveliest of stays. Just what we needed after the year we’ve had. Arrival was welcoming and efficient. We checked into our room which had a beautiful view of the countryside, which made our minds up to go for a country walk the area is stunning. We spent a few hours in the spa afterwards but to be honest we could’ve stayed all night, but I was too hungry!!! Dinner didn’t disappoint. The staff in the restaurant were so attentive and the food was amazing. Don’t miss out on the desserts they are soooo good! Very good sleep in such comfortable beds and then the most tasty breakfast. Just what we needed Thornton Hall we will be back. Happy New Year to you all.

Definitely recommend. Lovely place for a nice spa and overnight stay. Food in brassiere was amazing. Staff all friendly. We had room service and was spot on. Breakfast was served to our room because of COVID and what a breakfast it was. Full English with all the works. Amazing place. Feel so relaxed after staying here.

We booked a deal through Wowcher and sometimes you feel your stay reflects that. Not this time. I'd asked for a room upgrade because it was originally for my birthday. Our room (320) overlooked the gardens and had a lovely balcony with 2 chairs. The bed was massive and very comfortable. We weren't charged extra for the upgrade, which was a nice touch. We'd had to move our booking due to having to isolate for 10 days and at the time of arrival we were in tier 2.
The spa was great, particularly the outside jacuzzi in the cold and rain. The back massage was good and in nice surroundings.

The meal in the main restaurant was lovely. Our package included £30 towards food and the 3 course festive menu was approximately £28. The wine was around £30 a bottle so very expensive vs the quality of it. I probably wouldn't pay that again but we'd just been moved in to tier 3 so it would be our last meal out for some time! The staff took this change in their stride and the whole dining experience was socially distanced. There was a machine to take your temperature in a few places and all felt covid safe.
I would definitely come again, particularly as our regular spa break (Formby Hall) isn't such a good deal now.

I'm deeply upset about the break firstly we didn't receive the early check in that was requested and confirmed with josie . We booked a table at the restaraunt only to be told we were booked at the lounge bar we eventually got switched over to the restaurant which turned out to be awful our steak came blue after being assured it would come medium because the chef won't cook it medium well as originally requested weird really as it took over an hour . We couldn't eat it we were offered a pathetic 10% off the £32 steak which we round back on the bill as gratuity . Because we had waited so long I couldn't be bothered to argue and left
To go to bed . Only to be kept up until 2am by the staff having a knees up in the bar below which closed to paying guests at 10.30

Now the breakfast we ordered to the room came without cutlery , no pain au chocolate when the cutlery came it was cold and my girlfriend found a hair in hers so put us right off .

Level of care by staff was really poor and aftwr paying £400 for the night plus an obscene amount for a meal which looked like it had been cooked by a pretentious yts chef . Please steer clear of this place it's never been a 4 star I've had better experienced in hostels .

In a nutshell it's fawlty towers with less competent staff
