Reviewed 17 March 2017

We stayed at Sibuya in March and had the most fabulous time. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after well. We loved the trip down the river to the camp - it really did feel as if we were leaving civilisation behind! However, once we arrived at Forest Camp, it became very clear that we had our own little piece of heaven. Our ranger, David, welcomed us, showed us around the camp and also to our rooms. He explained everything really clearly to us. It was a bit of a surprise that he spent so much time with us - both eating, and taking us out on safari - but this made for an even better experience, in our opinion.

The actual safari experience was magical. We went out on the boat again, to pick up the jeep - and David then drove us around the 7000 acre reserve, where we saw Rhino, Elephants, Lions, Giraffe, Zebra, Impala, Nyala, Wart Hogs, Koda - amongst others. David also pointed out a multitude of birds to us, and explained in detail about the animal behaviour and reaction to human interface. I don't really understand why this reserve isn't better known - because we felt it was simply fantastic! Would love to go back.

Room Tip: All Tents have views over the river.

Greetings GerryHertfordshire - It's always extremely rewarding to us all at Sibuya when we receive such positive glowing Reviews - thank you for the kind words! Sibuya has 'only' been around for approx 11 years so we're relatively 'new' & have had to climb the ladder to success alongside some really stiff competition! In the last five years our hard work & dedication have received recognition both Internationally & Locally with numerous awards from Trip Advisor & SA Tourism's Lilizela Awards for 'Service Excellence'. At last we've made the impression we've striven for over the years & seem to have 'arrived up there with the best of the best' (SA Tourism's wording!). We do however never want to lose our personal touch & have guests leave without feeling that they've had the experience of a life-time & that they belong to the greater honorary Sibuya family! Advertising by word of mouth is the answer, as far as we're concerned - so please share your memories far & wide! We hope that one day you will return to our little piece of paradise...we look forward to welcoming you back! With very best wishes from Carol, Dave & the rest of the Forest Camp Team.

Spent three nights here with my friend Jill from the 2 March 2017. First time ever staying at a game reserve, so not sure what to expect. Arrived at reception to be met by very friendly, efficient staff and then assisted by Kent with our luggage to go down to the boat to take us to the lodge. This really started the holiday on a high note and was very beautiful. From there transferred to the Lodge going through the reserve and within 5 minutes saw white rhino giraffe zebra magical and Kent telling us all about what we were seeing on the way. Arrived very exhilarated but tired following 30 hour journey. Welcomed by Robin who showed us around this beautiful lodge, the facilities, ie swimming pool, bar, walks and our little thatched room. Everything had been designed with taste and beauty and very comfortable. Not used to not having a TV or WIFI but did not miss it at all and it was great to have the experience and know we did not really need them. The quiet stunning beauty of the place was enough. Met with the rest of the group staying later for our meal and met the rest of the team Megan Hoop and of course Kubos who was our guide. The food was fantastic and it was great fun eating with everyone else and getting to know a variety of nationalities. There is a maximum of 12 people staying which made it like a large family. Went out twice a day on safari which was amazing and saw the lions, zebra, giraffe, hipos, rhinos elephants lynx (very lucky to see) and lots more along with all the different birds. .However, it is not possible to predict what you will see as they are very good at hiding. Kubos is a brilliant driver, entertainer and expert on the different animals, birds and reptiles we saw and passionate about what he does, as were the rest of his team. This made it all such a wonderful experience and one I will never forget. Thank you to all of you. Hope this review will make other people want to go to this fantastic place and long may it thrive and expand.

Room Tip: Some lodge rooms are further to walk to than others. If not able to walk far, ask for room nearer t...

I'm not sure how this place isn't more well known?!

From arrival to departure you are looked after superbly by top notch staff. Our range was Daniel who was extremely knowledgable and did his upmost every day to find what we went looking for.

The food is of a very high standard and they go out of their way to accommodate anyone with specific dietary requirements.

The small numbers available to book made this a very intimate experience, often just one vehicle alone with the animals.

This was our first safari and we are not sure how we could better this experience! We cannot recommend this place enough!

What can you say about Sibuya? A magical experience that starts with your boat ride up river. My wife and two kids stayed at the lovely River camp. The accommodation was luxurious and beautiful, nestled among the trees. We shared the camp with 2 other couples which meant that it felt like a very personal experience where we chatted and exchanged stories, yet there was still plenty of scope for privacy if that is what you wanted. The food was delicious, freshly prepared and not over the top. Dining is in the lovely main lodge were all the guests and our ranger share a table. We all also enjoyed swimming in the river.

Our ranger, Scott was very pleasant and tremendously knowledgeable. We only stayed 1 night but enjoyed 2 drives and saw most animals bar the elephants. The joy of Sibuya is that while large, it is not so large that you spend hours looking for animals, here you are assured of seeing a great deal of wildlife. If you can stay at least 2 days you should.

I cannot recombined Sibuya highly enough. Our two weeks in SA were filled with amazing sights and experiences, I have visited Addo and Shamwari, but Sibuya will always be remembered as something very, very special. Thanks you guys for an amazing visit.

Room Tip: Room 2 at the River Lodge was superb

Greetings IrishDonamici - what a wonderfully rewarding Review - thank you! It's always great to hear that our guests have shared our magical multi-faceted world with such enthusiasm! 'Highlight of our SA adventure' is quite an accolade. Scott is passionate about his life-style so would really have enjoyed sharing his knowkedge with you. It''s a great pity you didn't get to see those elusive grey giants - it's incredible that on some days they just seem to 'disappear' & leave us guessing as to where they're feeding! The luck of the day! We hope that your memories will last a life-time & that sometime we'll be welcoming you back to re-live them! Wishing you happy days & exciting adventures. Carol & the River Camp Team.

We have had a marvelous day. We did the boat, game drive, lunch and boat tour and enjoyed every minute of it. Our guid Chris gave very good explanations on everything and he could find the animals during the gamedrive. The beautifull nature and diversity of animals (birds, lions, rhino's, giraffes and many more) we saw was overwelming. Also the lunch provided was good. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly come back some day. I can recommend everybody to make a visit to Sibuya Game Reserve.
