For those who value being located next to ample food choices, and is located right in the middle of 2 major train stations - Hakata and Tenjin, then this is the hotel for you.

Grand Hyatt is quite literally a small pedestrian bridge across from Canal City Hakata - giving you ample choices for food (and they have great ones), and shopping. Even if you do not fancy eating within the mall, there is ample street food at night just outside of the hotel , next to the canal and plentiful of cafes and restaurants all around. You have choices ranging from American type coffee and cafes, to Japanese BBQ, ramen, beef bowl type shops - the range is very good.

When stepping out of the hotel - it is quite literally equidistant to Hakata station and Tenjin station. Both are approximately 600 meters away. Its not next door, and still does need about 10 - 15 minutes walk.

Getting to the hotel from the airport is a breeze using the Fukuoka Airport Access Bus. Check the hotel website for the schedule - it is fast and very comfortable at only 500 yen for adults and half price for kids. The international airport and Grand Hyatt is only 1 stop away, with no other stops in between and is approximately 20 minutes of travel time.

The room itself is very large (bathroom in particular is very large), and has plentiful of amenities. Sleep quality is great, everything was pretty much in tip top shape.

Quite a good stay except that it’s time to do some upgrading to the room fixtures. The lighting in the room is too dim, more light is needed. It was a torture packing my luggage in the dark. Services from the Front desk and concierge were excellent.

The hotel is at Canal City, probably as convenient as you can get in terms of getting to either Hakata or Tenjin by foot. At ¥500 per head, you can also get a bus from the airport directly to the hotel front door.

Though we requested a non-smoking room, the one we got was clearly otherwise. Front desk was happy to change it quickly though. The corridors’ decor needs updating, but the rooms are fairly decent.

We had the buffet breakfast on the G/F. The spread was fine, if not spectacular, but the quality was good.

Overall, a conveniently located hotel with good rooms and decent service.

- perfect location with various in-hotel facilities
- stayed two days and one day was rainy but the hotel was connected to Canal City so it was no problem to stay without umbrella
- swimming pool was also wonderful
- lounge was located at 5th floor with a small garden

Room Tip: close to elevator

This hotel is conveniently located -- not far from the Hakata station and has many good restaurants inside the hotel and also near the hotel. It is also in a walking distance to Hakata Traditional Craft Museum and the impressive Kushida Jinja. It's in the Canal City, where you can see an great water & light show. The room is nice and clean and the service was excellent.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room. It's worth the money.
