We had a lovely time at Torri e Merli. My memory is of peace and quiet amongst the olive groves with crickets chirping, warm and friendly service and a charming pool. I would return.
It is a small hotel up the road from Lakka (walkable but probably easier to drive) and in easy reach of Monodendri beach with Ben's bar, as well as to other parts of the island (nothing is far in any event with a car).
Our room was a decent size, clean and stylish, with a good sized bathroom. It had a small veranda outside with chairs and tables which good in the evening. Nothing could be heard from the other rooms at all given the thick walls of the house which gave a feeling of quiet and privacy.
I thought the decor of the hotel was lovely with attention to detail - chunky glassware, fluffy towels, beautiful gardens and lighting etc. Breakfast was a delicious spread with juices, pastries, cakes, meats, cheeses, fruit and eggs to order. The dinner menu looked very nice but we didn't end up eating at the hotel and went out to the villages instead.
It is a small hotel with a small team of staff, so if you expect slick service on hand at all times you may be disappointed. However, service was attentive, charming and warm which is all we need. Stephanie the manager took great care of us as did the other staff. If all the guests go there at the same time it may be hard to find a sun lounger at the pool especially in the late afternoon. On other days, we had the pool all to ourselves.
All in all a very restful few days.More
