Celebrating X-mas eve dec. 2015

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Jan 2016
The hotel is well equipped with nice luxury furniture, a big bed room, excellent bathroom and a balcony. People are very friendly and speak a little English. On X-mas eve, we had a lovely meal in their restaurant. The food was of a high quality and the ambiance was very warm. The restaurant was nicely decorated for x-mas and there was also a live band playing. All rooms are on the first floor. Breakfast is typical French, just a few buns with jam and of course fresh fruit. The hotel is rather difficult to find but the view is perfect (lying on top of a hill). We stayed for 3 nights.
Date of stay: December 2015
Room Tip: View is very nice, furniture is very luxuries.

We returned to Habitation du Comte again this year after our excellent stay here last year. Our second stay was just as fantastic as the first stay in every way. We had dinner twice again at the hotel and the food was absolutely tremendous. The staff at the hotel are always very friendly and welcoming. This could be our favorite hotel to stay at when we travel, it is just so relaxing and perfect in every way. We hope to return again next year!

Absolutely everything was good there. A bit off the road, and hence secluded small hotel /B&B. Easy to find, too. Short driving distance to Sainte-Rose, and Deshaies. The restaurant was very good, too.

We stayed for four nights at the end of December and loved every aspect of our stay. The hotel is in a very quiet, peaceful location and just a short drive from the Grand Anse beach and the restaurants of Deshaies. Breakfast every day was quite good (fresh pastries, yogurt, etc.) and was included in the rate. We had dinner at Habitation du Comte twice and both meals were excellent and very reasonably priced. The rooms were large and comfortable, ours even had a nice balcony with a view toward the mountains. We'd definitely love to return and would recommend this property without hesitation.

Room tip: Ask for Room 5, it was a nice large room with a balcony.

We arrived late from the airport on the 2nd of January, and we found the chef and 2 staffmembers for us. We had a long trip so only decided for a one course meal, where the chef suggestion for a salad included various bites and tasts of what his full menu had to offer, this for a very moderate price ...with a chilled botle of Sancerre, and some fresh baked bread, we did not aks fro more !

The rooms are large and 'vintage' style furnished. There is airco and most rooms have a large balcony. Our room had a large bathroom and a seperate toilet. As there are only a few rooms the hotel is quiet at night and you can make an early start all alone in a large swimmingpool under the carraiban sun..

The 3 course meal served on our second evening was the perefect blend between old style French Cuisine and Carribian influences...even if you are not staying in this - not that cheap- hotel, the restaurant is a not-to-be-missed experience for anyone visiting Basse-Terre!

We booked this hotel as a last minute booking as it was all we could find that had a room available. It has far exceeded our expectations! The room is nicely furnished and recently renovated with all new furnishings and modern bathroom. The staff is extremely helpful and always eager to please. The restaurant is exceptional, featuring French cuisine that is amazing!
I will post a separate review under restaurants as it deserves an excellent review.
The included breakfast is coffee or tea or Hot chocolate followed by fresh baguette and jam, fruit salad and juice.
The grounds are very peaceful and well kept. The pool is immaculate and a decent temperature for swimming.
I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about that it is a difficult road to travel on. It is maybe 300 m from the highway, just far enough that you can barely hear the traffic even when sitting outside. Inside the room the only thing you can hear is crickets. There is about 30 m of rough road, but not nearly as rough as the parking at Grande Anse beach ( about 15 mins drive away) we are a family of three and they have done everything to make us all feel welcome, including letting my daughter feed the fish in the stream. Overall it is a very relaxing place to stay and I highly recommend it. There are beaches nearby but I recommend Grande Anse or Perle which is closer a 10 minute drive.
