I’d highly recommend this place. We booked the reindeer safari for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids 13 and 9 and we all loved it. We were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming Tomas if that how you spell it. We waited in the fire hut for other families to arrive and then went to the sledges for the reindeer ride. The ride was through a beautiful forest and with the sun rising and pink sky it looked magical. After the ride we went to the reindeer pen to feed the very lively reindeers and then back to the hut to warm up with the fire, hot drinks and a pastry. Tomas spoke to us about the reindeer and other things around the fire. Amazing experience that you won’t regret.
We at their cafe around 10 miles away the day before without realising, the food was very tasty.
Had a fabulous time but wrap up warm!!! We arrived at the reindeer farm and Thomas was our guide. We fed the reindeers with pellets and lichen. My daughter (7) mentioned about the reindeers eating carrots (as we all know that’s what we leave out for Rudolf!) and Thomas replied that carrots make reindeers sick.
We went on the sleigh ride. It was so peaceful but my gosh, it was so cold because we weren’t moving. We stopped in a teepee for our lunch but by then we were already freezing so by the time we got back on the sleigh, we were really cold.
My daughter was really quiet throughout and after lunch she cried. Turned out she was super upset that we have been leaving carrots out for Rudolf and his friends. I spent the whole trip after lunch reassuring her that it was ok and she hadn’t made them poorly. It was a real shame!!
Overall it was a lovely experience but despite many layers, everyone on our group was chilly!!
We had an amazing time on the reindeer tour. Thomas, the guide was so gentle and patient with the reindeers and created a wonderful experience. Definitely recommend!!
We booked the safari and the provider was aware we were bringing our two year old son. On the day it was minus 25 and it would have been been unsafe for us to take our son (as young kids have thin skin they get frostbite in 30 mins at this temperature). We were told this was ‘normal weather’ and the provider would not cancel or provide us with a refund.
It is not reasonable to have no minimum age limit in place and then refuse to cancel/refund when it is unsafe for a 2 year old to participate.
When we wrote a negative review, a ride was offered at 90 minutes notice the next day followed by silence when we tried to arrange a reasonable time.
Would not recommend.
We took the reindeer sleigh ride with lunch. The trip was great fun, spent some time feeding the reindeer, then took a trip into the forest, which was very scenic and had lunch half way. Very tasty reindeer soup and cakes. The guide was very informative.
Booked this on our Nordic Experience holiday, with Lapland Safaris Luosto, the office was next to our hotel.
Wearing our warm overalls we were taken by mini bus to the farm. The smooth, quiet sleigh ride was wonderful. Thomas our guide gave us so much information. We fed them afterwards and to see them up so close was amazing.
We then went into the big wooden hut with a log fire for hot berry juice and to meet the owner who showed us products and answered any questions we had. She gave us the history of the Sami tribe.
This excursion had been shown on TV, Gordon, Gino and Fred desperately searching for Santa.
