We had my sisters wedding reception in Horetown House on Saturday 16th July 2016. We arrived on Friday 15th and the two immediate families and bridal party settled in and had a delicious 3 course meal in the dining/breakfast room. From the moment we arrived (driving on the newly sanded driveway viewing the freshly cut grass) we were warmly greeted by Niamh, Kate, Ann, Tom and all the staff who were so friendly from that moment until the time we left on Monday. Each and every one of them could not have been any more amazing. Nothing was a problem for the entire weekend they were the most friendly and professional staff ever. The house was perfect in every sense, the doors open when it was warm and the heating on when it got a bit chilly. The rooms were fabulous and the bridal suite is a great size especially on the day of the wedding when lots of people were coming and going getting hair and makeup done etc. The staff worked tirelessly and were smiling and laughing at 2am after starting their day at 10am the previous morning. The wedding food was devine, exactly what my sister and husband had requested. The band and dj were super and the dj went down to the cellar bar where a lot of people went and Tom was fantastic all night (ie until 5.30am!!). The hangover kits were handy for a few, but for most of us who made breakfast it was excellent. Freshly made pastries on request each morning too. The next day we had a BBQ on the lawn, with bales of hay and crazy golf & a few games. My 6 year old daughter and niece insisted on "helping" Tom collect a few glasses for a little while and were delighted when he "paid" them with a bar of chocolate and a packet of crisps We had super weather and had musicians booked until 10pm but they ended up staying until the early hours, again Tom and the staff didn’t bat an eyelid. All the little touches, the acts that I witnesses by the staff when they thought no one was looking, that were to the benefit of the wedding party to ensure everything was going smoothly were second to none. We had the best weekend of our lives and family and friends are still talking about the beautiful venue, friendly, helpful, professional staff and how we all want to do it again. We are still smiling and would highly recommend Horetown House for a big (we had over 190 people) or small wedding. **5 stars all the way ** Sinead, Dublin.

Fabulous old manor house with a twist of ambience. My visit to this wonderful hotel with its beautiful sweeping lawns and a fantastic friendly staff made the wedding very enjoyable. The car parking attendent with his knowledge of Horetown House and the helpful advice on where the drinks reception and bar were located made a great start to a wonderful day and night. The hotel is a mix of old and new with an old manor house and a new wedding venue that looks like an enclosed marquee, the drinks were on the lawn which was a bonus as the day was very warm. The wedding went seemingly without a hitch with great food and brilliant band. The dancing went on till very late and it did not end there the bar downstairs run by Tom was most enjoyable, overall it was one of the best weddings we have been to in the last couple of years.

I was fortunate to be a guest at a wedding here. The staff were very friendly, the banquet room has a real wow factor and the food was really excellent. The canapés were the best I've ever had and the lemonade is delicious. The cellar bar was lovely and cosy for late night drinks with a roaring fire. Although the hotel is quite remote, we found accommodation nearby easily and there is a shuttle bus that leaves until the early hours of the morning.

Our wedding day at Horetown House doesn't leave me with happy tears. Quite the opposite! I can't even listen our first song.

Our day was ruined by terrible food, cold surroundings, rudeness and a lack of organisation by so called "wedding coordinators" and their staff.

To top it off the electricity went; regardless of this my husband and I were left mortified for holding our wedding at this terrible venue.

An extremely unsatisfactory "good well gesture" was begrudgingly given over however this does not make up from the debacle that was the joke of our wedding day.

All I cling on to is that I spent it with loved ones; oh wait most of them left when the electricity went!

Wedding venues sell the "perfect day" but our wedding was far from perfect.
Regardless of the electricity going our wedding day was ruined by Horetown House.

Communication broke down as soon as the money reached their account. Emails were ignored, questions left unanswered.

On the day itself the staff were so rude especially to my mother, my wife and my wife's mother.

They couldn't even get a floor plan right; the one they sent us!

Horetown has a good reputation for food and that's mainly why we went with it. However the food was appalling and cold. One member of staff came over in the middle of our meal and told us that a table were complaining about the food, that should not have been brought to our attention. That time should have been spent dealing appropriately with our guests complaints. They don't seem to know the meaning of good service.

When the electricity did go we were left in the dark of the garden room for more than half an hour (which must equate to a health and safety breach) while the staff stood around with gormless looks on their faces.

From a venue that ONLY does weddings it is a joke of an establishment.
