We were given a voucher for an overnight stay plus breakfast back in September and finally got around to booking last week. We stayed the weekend of the 4th February and on arrival to the place we were happy to see that the car park had been revamped and that the water feature was once again working as we had come to view this premises previously as a potential wedding venue for us but sadly the initial impression back then put us off booking so we were delighted to see that improvement shad been greatly made.
Check in was welcoming and friendly, the only gripe I had was that when I booked the room the previous week I enquired about booking for dinner and was assured that i could do that on check in but alas when we checked in we were then told that we should have beeked a week previously as they are very busy on Saturday nights. I was so disappointed as we had been lookign forward to eating in the main restauarant as the food is really so good there. i didnt want to say anything to the receptionist at the time as we were on a complimentary voucher so didnt want to make a fuss. We ate in the bar which was fine, nothing to write home about foodwise but we did have a brilliant waiter Ben who looked after us very very well.
The room was lovely and clean and warm and we got up early Sunday morning for the AMAZING breakfast where everything was so fresh and tasty and then we went back to bed and checked out on a late check out at 2 pm, fabulous!
Would definitely return here again only next time we will book way in advance to secure a table in the restaurant.

The spa in this hotel is excellent. I am pregnant and suffering with a bad back. Hence, the number of suitable treatments is very limited. On ringing to make the appointment, the receptionist was extremely well informed and knew exactly what my options were. She recommeneded a facial and reflexology. Both treatments were excellent, but the reflexology has had a lasting impact on my mobility and well being. The therapist was exceptional and explained everything really well. After the treatments, I had a very good lunch in the bar. The service was excellent and their Goats Cheese Tart is very good. The only disappointment was a fairly tastless American Cheese Cake.

My wife and her small party were most dissapointed by their recent stay at this premises. I think what annoys even more is the recurring theme of rudeness that has been a feature of some of the reviews. Now I appreciate people have differing experiences and there is good and bad but most of these comments seem to come from one particular aspect of the hotel business, RECEPTION. Furthermore it is not good enough to have water issues within the hotel without telling guests upon check-in. Even worse is then not dealing with the issue and not making the necessary ancillary arrangements to deal with the knock on effects such as delayed dinner reservations. It seems from a number of comments that this has been so for quite a while and resulted in some of my wife's party not having an opportunity to shower before dinner. Not what one would expect from a property such as this. In a recession it is cut throat for that little bit of business that is out there but at what price? This behaviour will ensure that many people will be one time visitors to such a Hotel. My advice to the hotel is very simple. Be more friendly/courteous to visitors and tell people if there are issues upon check-in or at worst make alternative arrangements immediately within if this issue is discovered again. Not a good experience for anybody. A birthday night away was sadly not enjoyed at all

We consider all comments received to be an invaluable source of information on guest satisfaction.

Firstly, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience or annoyance caused as a result of our shortcomings. Unfortunately we had a major water leak within the hotel premises. Although this was an isolated incident, please be assured that immediate steps have been taken to ensure no re-occurrence of this regrettable situation.
With regard to the other issues your have mentioned, rest assured that we are dealing with these internally.

been going to this hotel for past 5yrs with a group of very stressed mums for our annual well earned treat. this year however we noticed many slips and were very disappointed.the bar and lobby area were so Cold, the outdoor hot tub was also cold, the heated relaxation beds.lanconium and calderium heated seats were also cold, sunday morning breakfast was chaos, now saying that -they were having probs with no water that weekend so maybe that might explain things- i have to say-the staff are all lovely and the beds are to die for with their cloud soft mattress toppers and duvets..upstairs- the spa area, the therapists and the treatments are first class. the food in the bar is really nice-our meal in the restaurant was delicious and promptly served.seemingly there going through a management changeover too so hopefully they will rectify the little problems quickly-because when this hotel is at its best--it really is one of the best weve been to. we wont be put off and will be booking our escape there again next year, where hopefully it'll be back to its usual standards, but if not we'll be booking elsewhere, but would all be really really sad to have to do that. so heres hoping for good things to come

Room Tip: all rooms are good but just make sure you get a mattress topper on your bed.. bliss
