Thank you for your review and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
Check in efficient enough. Room was comfortable but had two single beds placed together which wasn't that comfortable. Bathroom a little tired.
Breakfast variable depending on presence of coach party or not. Cold selection not huge. Staff friendly.
Bar food good and reasonably priced. Good selection of wines and gin.
Beware the wedding parties. Our last night coonsided with wedding which was noisy.
Good location for golf holiday with course next door.
Overall, pleasant stay, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms and ample parking.
Would stay there again.
Thank you for your review and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
We were over in England at a funeral on September 22nd and 23rd and we arrived very late back to the Hotel on Saturday night 23rd Sept. (Moyvalley) . As I had notified them that we would be late arriving that night they had everything ready and waiting for us for a quick check in. Also there was a wedding party at the hotel when we arrived and the music and crack was very loud but the receptionist had us booked into a room where we heard nothing - we thought that was fantastic touch indeed. We slept all night which we badly needed after the funeral.
Thank you for your review and great to read comments like this. We try to allocate leisure guests away from the ballroom to avoid noise. A good nights sleep is important!
Living in England, we shortlisted many hotel wedding venues to view over a weekend. We were very disappointed by many of the castles and manor houses where you could only use the lovely rooms on the website for a very small number of guests or for photos. On our last evening, a friend recommended visiting Moyvalley.
Right from the drive up to the venue we were very impressed, rolling fields and beautiful scenery. We fell in love with the Stone house where we had our ceremony and Balyna house, where we had our drinks reception. These two parts of the venue- all within a very short walk from each other, are so incredibly beautiful and unique. They also require very little additional decorations as they are full of character. The food provided for the drinks reception was so plentiful, beautifully presented and delicious. Some of our guests felt too full for dinner- which is very unusual at weddings as the canapés are usefully snapped up by those near the door!
The Royal Canal Suite, where we held our wedding breakfast, is a typically wedding function room. It is well set out with a lovely view of the stone cottage courtyard- great for cake cutting photos! The meal was lovely (guests really raved about it). The bar is also in the room, so you don't lose half of your guests to bar chatting! There was also plenty of room for the photo booth. Evening food and the cake were put on the gusts table which was brilliant a idea as it was all eaten.
Another huge selling point of this venue, along with its lovely grounds, great staff, three venues in one and great food, is the hotel itself. When we were looking for hotels in August, an overarching theme at many of those we viewed was just how busy and chaotic they felt as people had gone there for spa breaks. Moyvalley didn't have these guests as it doesn't have a spa- but it doesn't need it. We basically had the whole hotel for the weekend, alongside with some golfers! Which made the weekend even better and more intimate. It always feels very calm.
The accommodation is lovely, especially the Stone cottages (perfect for bridal preparations) and the rooms in Balyna House ( amazing bridal Suite). The after hours cellar bar is one of the most beautiful bars, stunning.
Overall, Moyvalley is a total gem and very reasonably priced. Orla (super wedding coordinator) and Barry can make your dreams come true. Our guests loved it too.
A very big thanks from all the team here at Moyvalley for such a fantastic review. So glad we exceeded your expectations and hope you had an amazing honeymoon. both Barry & Orla pass on their regards and hopefully we will see you back again soon.
Stayed a night , how I wish I had booked. Y entire stay here. Very good sized room, bathroom as it ought to be and clean. Beds very comfy, ambience was perfect . The staff were professional and welcoming especially Nuala, who allowed me the use of the computer to check for an important message (thank you & God bless you). Massive grounds for walking, beautiful landscape. Did I say, breakfast was excellent despite not much variety. I would definitely recommend and be back also.
Thank you for your review and kind comments. Glad you enjoyed everything and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
We had our wedding here on the 9th of September 2017. We remember driving around most of louth and Meath looking at venues all day and none took our fancy until we drove in the gates of moyvalley. The minute I turned in and started driving up the avenue I knew thus was going to be were our wedding reception would be and I wasn't wrong. We met the wedding coordinator who from the first word out of the her mouth was polite and welcoming and just gave us the run of the hotel and house to look around. We both agreed that this would be the venue and paid a small deposit which wasn't crippling. From the moment we left the hotel that day we had not one thing to worry about we were assigned orla as the planner and we couldn't have got a better person if we tried she was outstanding and answered every question we had at any time of the day and assured us that it would be a day to remember and guess what she wasn't wrong. We arrived at 3.30 on the wedding day to be greeted by friendly staff who went completely out of there way to make sure everything was perfect. Later in the evening we went to the reception room were again orla was there to make sure everyone was having fun. Onto the room which was decorated just as we asked for no corners cut. The meal then was just perfect and the amount of people commenting on it the next day and still today is unbelievable and that is a credit to all the kitchen staff no one was left wanting that night. After the meal and evening entertainment we moved onto the residents bar were we were allowed basically take over until the early hours. I honestly can't say anything bad about this hotel or the staff or the food or the rooms i could go on but I'll only bore you. So my honest advice is if you plan on getting married and want it to be a day you will talk about in 20+ years head straight to moyvalley ask for orla and sit back and relax. Thanks guys you really made our special even more special so thank you very much
