Just returned after 3 great nights at this cabin. It is everything it says in the description and more. Gary and Una the owners are great and are on site should you have any queries or issues. The cabin is well equipped and has everything you would need for an enjoyable stay, Una has bread, milk, tea and coffee left for you. There is a wide screen TV/ Radio and DVD player along with a storage box loaded with lots of films.
It is a great spot for relaxing and the Hot Tub is just the place for that, then just chill out on the porch with a glass of wine or beer and watch the fish as they jump in and out of the water, or go for a walk around the lake.
You don't need to be a fisherman to be able to enjoy a stay here, but if you are, the lake is well stocked with Rainbow trout. If you don't fish, but like trout cooked, Gary might catch one for you.
Well worth a visit.
We have booked again for a couple of nights in November and also again for next May.
Easy directions to get there:
Driving into Letterkenny, get into the right hand lane for Ramelton, take a left at the 2nd small roundabout and follow the signs for Kilmacrenan. Follow this road until you come to a GULF Petrol Station on your left and just immediately past this, take the road on the right signposted Ramelton/Milford/Ballyarr. Go along this road for 3 miles and you will come to a series of S bends, Ballyare is immediately on the right as you pass this.

Perfect place for a peaceful getaway.
My husband, 2 year old son and I stayed for 4 days over July.
Gary and Una are the perfect hosts and nothing is any trouble.
We stayed in the smaller log cabin and it was perfect. Had everything we needed including a fresh loaf, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, microwave, cooker, kettle, hairdryer, washing up liquid, clothes, tea-towels and towels - Great as saved us brining these for a short break.
The area is around 5mins drive to Ramelton and 10mins drive to Letterkenny. I would not recommend if you do not have a car unless you are happy to stay at the cabin.
We loved the hot-tub and husband the fishing/photography opportunities.
We have booked to return again in October (the next available weekend - this place is selling out fast!) and again at Easter.
Una showed us around the larger cabin, which is also great, but more suited to larger families as 3 bedrooms. Not as modern as the smaller newly built caravan therefore we preferred the smaller cabin.
Very modern with free wifi and hundreds of films to choose from on the TV along with DVDs and playing cards.
Go - you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed here midweek last week for two glorious days in the sunshine and honestly didn't want to leave, which is testament to how amazing this little place is! We brought our Golden Retriever to this very pet friendly accommodation, who loved every minute of it. In fact, she didn't sleep the entire 48 hours - she was fascinated by the lake and its inhabitants! Owners, Gary and Una couldn't have been friendlier or more generous and were there for anything we needed and made us feel totally at home, while giving all the privacy we wanted.
The hot tub, obviously being the jewel in the crown, was amazing and I was delighted to hear that it is cleaned daily and the water is changed regularly. The log cabin was very well equipped and cosy, generously stocked with the essentials - bread, milk, butter,,kitchen roll, tea towels, bath towels, shampoo, shower gel and hairdryer. Although compact, the cabin would easily sleep three people. The deck was furnished with table, chairs and parasol and there is a gas and charcoal BBQ to use. You can even catch a trout and cook it on the BBQ! On our second night, we caught, BBQd and ate a 2lb trout within half an hour, doesn't get much fresher than that!! Absolutely delicious!! The little town of Ramelton is so quaint and within a two minute drive. Not walkable, as the road is winding with no path.
We will definitely be back, but it gets booked up very quickly... so I don't know why I'm writing this review... we'd love to keep it as our own wee hideaway! Thanks to Gary and Una... See you again hopefully soon, Darren, Judiith and Ella
Stayed here with family and friends . And must say it was an excellent stay , plenty to do had a ball , very clean cabins were brilliant and not to forget to mention the hot tubs . Owners couldn't do enough for us , they allspice helped my son to fly fish and he also managed to catch a couple of trout . Without a doubt will be booking this little bit of heaven again. You have to see to believe . 5 star all the way .
This is not a complaint about the lodge, but rather An honest opinion based on our stay at the lodge a while ago. The surroundings of the lodges were beautiful, however I felt the whole experience was much too personal, for example the owners calling to the door to see what u were doing all day. If this was what I wanted that would be great, but we visited for a relaxing break and didn't expect this. The hot tub was lovely and was right beside the cabin, however it wasn't very private and the owner remarked on how he saw us in the hot tub last night, making us feel paranoid that someone was watching. I recognise that Everyone is different and enjoy different things when on holiday, and I can see how some would love this property. The whole place has a lot of potential but with experience I am sure things will improve. Thanks
