The Lai Lai was an excellent base for my nearly 2-week stay in Taichung. The location is convenient, and the rooms are clean and well-appointed. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, very clean and well-lit. The breakfast buffet was a big plus, with a wide array of freshly-prepared dishes, offering both consistency as well as variety on a day-to-day basis. The laundry facility is easy to use and very helpful for stretching the travel wardrobe. Depsite having 3 (out of 5 or 6) lodging rooms under construction, I never experienced any unreasonable noise or even a speck of dust through the ventilation system. Most of all, the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. I would stay here again without hesitation. I expect it will be even better once the renovation is complete!

Room Tip: Request a room with a window.

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Seems to be a Taiwanese habit, as we experienced this all over the island. The hotel is situated in a very lively area. There is a large shopping mall nearby with plenty of catering possibilities if you do not fancy the little restaurants. One little minus : breakfast western style is restricted to bread, eggs and some marmelade. One morning, there was even no butter, as " it was all gone yesterday ". ;-)) We noticed that the guests were quite international, so one should expect a little more effort in this respect. However, we would return there.

Many rooms do not have windows. Request one.

Rooms are reasonably priced and clean. There is a nice buffet; the good is location good, and it is close to shopping. Unfortunately there are many windowless rooms.

Room Tip: Request a room with a window.

Room was big and spacious - enough to open 2 big luggage. Toilet was spacious too. There are drinks and hot buns in the first floor lobby next to reception. If you rented scooter in Taichung, you can also park in their carpark for free. Recommend for families and couples. Next to many shopping areas including Yi Zhong night market. Buffet breakfast was nice and quite alot of variety.

Room Tip: Near to shopping areas.

Nice hotel. Good location. Clean room. Near to night market. Close to departmental store. Rate is reasonable. Good deal compared with other hotels in our trip. Happy to return for this hotel rate. Friendly service.
