The staff here are exceptional!! Friendly, helpful and perfect English speakers. Paul and Chen went out of their way to help us out and did much, much more than we could have hoped for. We are cycling around Taiwan and they offered to store our bike boxes for us until we returned. The location is great, right in the heart of old Tapei, walking distance to a night market and close to the Taipei main station. Rooms are spotless, comfortable and nicely furnished. Highly recommend this hotel.

Clean, comfortable, well located and staffed with the friendliest, most helpful people you could ever hope for. A couple of blocks from a great night market and lots of interesting sights. Paul, who checked us in, has known or found out the answer to any question we’ve thrown at him and has offered information we didn’t even know enough to ask. Definitely recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It is an interesting and unusually decorated hotel. The theme is Chinese retro with the hotel completely designed to reflect what a house/building would look like back in the 30s, or maybe it's the 40s or 50s in China/Taiwan. Even the phones are the old style rotary phones. The decor is very interesting but tasteful. There's no elevators, and the building goes up with no rooms on the first floor, so you have to walk up flights of stairs. However, they have an innovative pulley system to hoist your luggage up to your floor for you, so that you don't have to lug your heavy luggage up several floors.

The rooms themselves are extremely small. The bed is built on a platform perhaps to give the room a more open feel since everything is literally packed into a very small space. The side tables, bed, and a little ledge (that would be like a desk if it weren't so narrow that it can only be considered a ledge) are all right next to each other with little room to even walk around. The bathroom is very small as well. If you get claustrophobic, this hotel/motel is not for you. Otherwise, the price is right for a quaint boutique hotel like this and the location is somewhat centrally located.

Although it is a good 15 minutes walk to the nearest MRT, there are bus stops closer than that and there's plenty of convenient stores, shopping of all kinds, and casual eateries like breakfast shops, and quick lunch places all around so that you don't really even need to take any kind of public transportation to get your essential needs met.

The front desk ALWAYS has someone there, which is nice. The hotel staff's English, I would say, is pretty limited, but since I speak Mandarin, I didn't have any trouble communicating with them, and they were definitely very friendly and helpful, with giving advice on tourist spots and how to get to them in Taipei.

Room tip: Try to get one of the lower floors or you'll be trekking up several flights of stairs.

A small hotel located on a good spot. Hotel staff is excellent and very helpful. Beds are very good, rooms are not oversized (at least the one I had as solo traveller). Very clean hotel. No complaints. Good choice in Taipei.

We stayed in a twin room which consisted of two very flat mattresses up above tiny seating areas all in the traditional tea house theme. The detail of the theming everywhere was incredible and amused us because it's different - however it's certainly not for everyone. The bathroom was actually fantastic, great size with decent shower unit. The very thin mattresses weren't great and in hindsight we'd have been better off not staying here for as long or in a different room, we still enjoyed the overall experience though. The staff on reception were great, very friendly and helpful.

WARNING - there is no lift to the floors and the stairs are a bit awkward (which is why the guy on check in insisted on taking our suitcases up for us).

Location was pretty decent too. A short walk from a metro station and about a 20-30 minute walk to the main Taipei train station.
