This is a straightforward hotel. If you like a comfortable, near MRT and Taoyuan International Airport and your own private bathroom, then this is the place. Though it looks old, the owners keep it clean.

I you are looking for a place to stay in Taipei that is very affordable and cozy, This Hostel is the best place to check out. It is just a few minutes walk from Taipei Main Station which is really convenient. The place is also near several merchandise shops and restaurants. Staff are very friendly.

The location ofvthe hostel is very near Taipei Main Station, exiting Y13 of Taipei City Mall which you can see after you exit the Airport MRT Station at Taipei Main Station. It's on your left side after the turnstile of the exit, you will see the sign on the doors-Taipei City Mall. From that door, look for Y13 Exit.
The location is a walking distancd from the Ning Xia Night Market which has the same items for sale on foods, drinks, clothes, shoes, knicknacks,etc as with the other Night Markets. But Shilin has more to offer but even with the Chinese New Year holiday or maybe because of it, you can hardly walk freely at Shilin Market. This was last Feb 17, 2018 after our tour of the National Palace Museum.
As for the hostel, it's pricey for an accomodation with that kind of facilities. The location is on a small alley which is scarey if you're a female travelling solo.
The bed is big & enough for 2 guests but the bed is placed against the wall. If you happen to be a person who has to use the CR often at night this poses a problem coz you have to wake-up your companion sleeping on the other side. The bathroom cum toilet is not so good coz when one takes a bath, the water from the bath wets all of the floor. Maybe the reason why they give you a rubber slipper. But then the wet slippers wets the bedroom floors.
The reception area is small also with the hallway leading to our Rm 207. The free hot & cold water vending machine is on the 3rd floor. So you go up & down a not-so wide stairs to get your drink. Poses a problem if you just have a cup, the hot water might scald you going up or down to your room. So bring a small thermos for this if you want to stay there. Oh and there's no lift at Chia Rong so don't bring a big baggages coz of the small staircase which is also steep to climb.
We found another accomodation right after Chia Rong. The name is Meander & Lan Ting which offer the same rate but with a more modern facility and right along the road. They also have a lift/elevator so big baggages are not a problem even if you're on the upper floor.

Hostel without lift and is just 50m from Taipei Main Station exit Y13. Small room with low ceiling and NO daily room cleaning (same bath towel thru our stay).
Anyway it's cheap and there are many good eating outlets nearby.
Was staying there from 26 to 29 Oct 2017 (room 311)
Room tip: Nothing great except for it's location

As you can see from the photos it is a old hotel. At the end of the small street. No windows.
But they are doing their best and it is working.
They are trying to keep it clean as possible.
A guy is 24 hours at the reception and very friendly, English spoken, helpful.
The area is a down town area but not dangerous.
The important thing is that it is cheep!
AND it is just in front of Taipei Main Station where long distance train, Airport train (Taoyuan Airport), High Speed Train, metros (MRT), buses arrives and departs.
When you arrived by Airport MRT, follow signs navigating to other trains. Going up the escalator to B1, you turn left then you will get into underground shopping mall (the "otaku" paradise...). There you can connected to free WiFi (Airport MRT also has free WiFi). When you get to a mall, look for a exit "Y13". There's a lift and escalator to a street level. The hotel is just 2min from there.
The only problem for me was the air-condition. You don't have controller in your room and it was a little to cold for me. So I recommend you to bring something. In Taiwan, and most of the place in Asia, it is cold everywhere in a building (like in the States).
