Beautiful place to relax. The food in the hotel’s restaurant is really good, I personally recommend the fried whole fish. If you want, you can also visit other close beaches such as Potrero, Flamingo, Dantas, Penca... but the beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and it’s mostly private :)

Dear Raquel H,

Thank you! Yes, Sugar Beach is beauiful and the perfect place to relax. Glad you enjoyed the food and your stay. The whole fried fish is a great dish, very costa rican like. As you mnetioned there are great beaches to visit near by. Happy you liked our privacy and services. Wish to have you back soon.

Sincerely,

Our family enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach hotel. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay this is place. The beach was never crowded, and we were amazed at how much the tide changed throughout the day. The staff was friendly. My mother -in-law and I took advantage of the complimentary yoga one morning. The instructor was wonderful (sorry I forgot her name). She had mats, blocks, and straps if you needed them.
Breakfast was made to order from a menu not a buffet, which we enjoyed.
This hotel is a bit secluded, and quite a hike to the nearest town. If you want to be near enough to other restaurants to walk this is not the place. We were told a taxi would be $20 - 40 one way depending on which town we wanted to visit.

Room Tip: Villa 12 with 2 rooms is farthest from the beach.

Dear WisFolks,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our place and to share your experience with us. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Sugar Beach, we couldn’t agree more we are quiet and relaxing, we never crowded, and our staff is friendly and professional. Yoga is included on the rate, good to read you took advantage of this freebie breakfast is also included on the rate and yes not a buffet but a la carte one of the top favorites is the traditional gallo pinto. We are secluded but do offer service taxis, rent-a-car and tours, part of the magic is being away from all but still a 5-minute drive to town.

Kind regards,

We arrived to the hotel late but that didn't matter, the staff was ready to greet us and carried our bags by hand to our room! The young man working the night shift at the front desk even found me a bag of chicarrones that I had been searching for. He went into the town and brought them back for me! Nubia is a darling server in the restaurant, she also went out of her way to make sure my meals were just what I wanted/needed (I was on a special diet). The resort was so peaceful, quaint and on a gorgeous beach - you can hear the gentle waves from your room! If you want peace, serenity, maybe a romantic getaway, this is the place!

Room Tip: Small romantic/relaxing resort. Families are ok but children should be respectful/courteous as folks come to get R&R/serenity/peace.

Dear taffeec,

Our staff is always willing to go above and beyond for our clients. Nubia is one of our starts in the morning greeting every client with a smile and like in your case ready to personalize according to any dietary restriction or taste. Our hotel as you mentioned is peaceful, quiet and with a gorgeous beach and nature around us. Thank you for your kind words, our essence is in every wave that comes and goes, we also think is a very romantic place.

Thanks for your comment and visit!

Set in a small cove, it's as if this hotel has it's own private beach. It is actually a public beach but we only saw a few non-guests at the weekend. We upgraded to a deluxe room, which had a partial sea view and great proximity to the famous howler monkeys - definitely worth it. There's free yoga every day and all of the staff were great, especially Gama on reception, who dealt with all our questions, and Victor in the restaurant. Watch out for the magpie jays who are not shy about sharing your breakfast! A fantastic hotel in a fantastic location - peaceful and beautiful.

Dear DarkHorse707,

In Costa Rica all beaches are public, but sense we have a private entrance it makes much more secluded and practically for guests and specific visitors. Being said that we are always opne for public and visitors. It´s good to read you upgrade was worth it, deluxe rooms are perfect for couples, spacious room, close to the Lobby and Restaurant and of course the view and proximity to the beach and trees make it a perfect place to blend with nature. Yoga is included on the rate and is offered usually from Monday to Friday. Delighted you rate our staff as great, will give out this special mentions to both Gama and Victor. You meet our daredevils the blue magpie jays, we always encourage not to feed animals they just don´t get the hint….. Than you thank you for this beautiful comment, we thank you from our hearts.
