This is a very unusual place to stay which is hard to categorise. The pension is located in a pretty house with a shady terrace and lovely gardens, quiet but within easy walking distance of the town. The bedroom we were given was quirky: two linked rooms each with a washbasin. It was decorated in traditional Danish style with lemon stripy wallpaper and cushions to match. The bed was comfortable. No ensuite but there was a small, newly-installed shower room close by which we shared with other guests. The downstairs rooms are very pretty with lovely flower arrangements and views of the garden. Breakfast was a buffet-style with plenty of choice – set in the dining room with candles on each table – delightful. There was a kitchen where you could help yourself to free tea and coffee throughout the day. Our hostess was helpful with suggestions as to where to eat in the area. Recommended for a quirky but relaxing stay in Hornbaek.
