If you happen to pop by on a summer afternoon/evening on a hot day, thinking that a sort of remote place like Artur would be a peaceful place for a quick bite, think again. As a fairly decent shashlik diner by a roadside, word has traveled far and everyone flocks here for Estonians’ favourite food. Unfortunately the place is too small for that - not enough cooking and serving staff for entertaining such crowds, so by the time you’ve queued, ordered and waited for your food to be brought, a whole hour might have easily passed. I get it, there’s probably not a lot they can do here, serving staff doesn’t just magically appear out of nowhere in a small village nor would there be enough work for them on a more quiet weekdays but still, it’s not a pleasant experience to wait for your food for such a long time.
Otherwise the food itself is all right although not exactly cheap for the size. Also, I imagine shashlik is much better on a day when they aren’t so overcrowded and actually have time and energy to put some love into it. I’ve heard good things about it, they can’t all be wrong. Just do yourself a favour and stay away on summer weekends when the weather is good...
