i will just share this- checked out from the hotel.went some good 30-35km downhill ( very undulating route). took a u-turn and called back in the hotel to again check in. this is the beauty of this place.
no place as good as this.
the staff took me in the village, purchased a live chicken, cooked it along with the chef in the kichen marrinating in beer.very supportive staff.
the owner Misses Topden and her father make you feel at home taking care of everything.
pool is quite good.view from all rooms is super.rooms are excellent.
bonfire and all is arranged.
you will never have any complain here.

It was lovely stay at martam retreat. Beautiful view from the resort. Staffs are very friendly. Speacially the owner, they treated us very nicely. Must visit place. A bit away from gangtok but worth it.

An unforgettable experience at Martham Retreat.
Located in the tranquil and enchanting hamlet of upper Martham, an hour from Gangtok, the retreat overlooks a valley with terrace cultivation. You get the opportunity to have a paddy field walk where you can actually see all the stages up, close and personal or rice cultivation. It is simply breathtaking an experience and was the highlight of my trip to Sikkim.

Most rooms have a private balcony overlooking the fields and its just lovely to wake up to this view. You get to enjoy the morning sounds of nature, singing birds and clouds that feel an arms distance away.

For the adventurous ones, there’s an experience of a lifetime- a strenuous and challenging hike to a waterfall. Only accessible by hiking through a village, one can get very close to the falls and enjoy a rain shower from the spray of the falls which leaves you spell bound. The gushing sound of the falls and to be that close to the falls is simply spectacular.

A special mention to Deepak who was available to us for everything and never said “no” for anything. He was our server, our trek guide and even set up a Bon fire for us.

Can’t recommend the experience of staying in Martham enough.

Excellent location, room with a balcony overlooking terraced rice cultivation fields, great staff and service, very tasty food, wonderful facilities of pool and sauna and to top it all unmatched guest-centric focus and hospitality by Mr.Bhutia, Mgr at Martam...it was a great time at Martam Retreat where I stayed for 3 nights...my 3 weeks long Sikkim vacation ended on an immensely satisfying note at Martam Retreat...menu pricing can probably be reduced

Room tip: Room with a private balcony look the most apt...room 301...
