I visited sikkim with my family and it was lovely,although i had a problem with the food as whatever i saw , i had already eaten in most restaurants. Then, to my great surprise and pleasure,i found this gem of a restaurant. Everything about it spelt SIKKIM.Food was out of the world and the service was excellent.If you love flora then this is it .I would suggest u visit there too and experience it ,Thank you Sikkim,See you soon.

Good place to have food and relax in a suitable manner after coming out of the majestic Buddha park. Beautiful views all around

We had no idea where to have our breakfast while leaving from pelling, thanks to Prakash (our driver) he brought us here. The restaurant is on the way to Buddha park at Ravangla. Unaware of the beautiful surprise, we stepped out of the car and what we saw was a lovely verandah full of lilies planted and also the vegetables. There was a girl sitting and cutting vegetables which was unexpected. There were orchids of colors that I have never seen – white, pink, purple, cream, green and brown. As we entered we were lost in the ambience. We placed our order for the food and got engrossed in the interiors. The interior was all full of culture so rich and beautiful. They even changed the music track for us from some Nepali to Hindi song, this was their gesture of hospitality.

Everything about the place is amazing,as soon as I stepped in I was just captured by the place,there were some Sikkimese music,orchid,lilies and more,the interior of the place was just incredibly beautiful,with the essence of Sikkim in every little things there it's a perfect place for people who have chosen Sikkim for its culture and beauty add on to that the food was sooo fresh n good,the coffee marvellous,prices reasonably fair,adding more into that hospitality was overwhelming,it's very comforting there,I would love to visit there again n again

We had taken a shortcut to the Buddha Park in Ravangla, via the steps which lead up the hill to the Buddhist Monastery and then a path through the monastery grounds to the Buddha Park.After a great and very peaceful halt at the Buddha Park, we decided to take the longer route back to the town using the road. Just a few hundred metres from the Buddha Park we came across this very quaint, pleasant and well maintained restaurant named 'tathagata kitchen' - a sikkimese restaurant.
We had not heard of it earlier, but it looked very inviting especially since it was already 2.00pm and we were quite hungry after our long walk.
Frankly, it was one of the best restaurants we have visited during our stay in Sikkim and North Bengal. Run by Mr Rinzing Bhutia, it offers a very limited, but tasteful fare. The best part is that all the ingredients are fresh and nothing is served from a pre-prepared or pre-cooked fare. Result- one has to wait for a while since the vegetables are to be chopped and then cooked. But believe me, the time one gets to soak in the atmosphere of the place, maybe enjoy a drink or two and finally the hot and freshly prepared meal; everything is worth the wait.
Rinzing runs the restaurant as a love affair. A talk with this enterprising individual was revealing- he has studied in a military school, then went on to try his hand at various things before opening this restaurant over a year ago. His family helps in the running of the place. We were served by his lovely daughter - she was on a break from School, while the cooking was undertaken personally by Rinzing and his wife.
Both my wife and me had one of our best meals during our trip to Sikkim and North Bengal in this restaurant.
Be prepared to wait a while for the food to be served. Its worth it.
