We stayed with family and had 3 rooms, we were in room 20 which is a newly refurbished room. very pleased with it room and bathroom clean, bed comfortable. the only problem the walls are thin and certain noises can be heard very clearly!! Breakfast was good we had the full English which cost a extra £3 which we thought was a fair price. The lady at the bar called Vicky was very busy but still happy to have banter with you. As I say the only issue we had was the noise from the room next door. we would go back if we were in the area.

Room was large, double bed plus bunk. Reasonably comfortable but a little out of the way. Room was clean. Ate at the restaurant on the night we stayed. Breakfast was good and included in room rate. Could order full English breakfast if you wished for a small extra fee.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but it's only that which gets this three stars, which the hotel itself doesn't merit.

Our room bore little or no resemblance to the description on the website, which is as follows:

"All rooms are individually decorated, the style is clean simplicity – cool whites and creams, with splashes of colour that come together to create a pleasant mix of the contemporary and the traditional.
Relax in crisp cotton sheets, snug duvets and satin soft furnishings. Complimentary tea and coffee, and carefully selected toiletries are on hand in all rooms to make sure you feel refreshed and relaxed during your stay."

Our room was fairly awful with a small uncomfortable bed, an unpleasant bathroom that hadn't been cleaned properly (cobwebs) and bedside lights that didn't work and were not fixed despite a request to do so. Our room looked out onto the bins outside the kitchen - very poor. We had booked in good time and the hotel clearly wasn't full, so goodness knows why we were given this room.

We ate in the bar on our first night - very basic fare but OK for the price. Beer was good. No noise from the bar after we went to bed. Breakfast was forgettable.

Always visit here when I am back in Gloucester. Can't comment on the accommodation side but the food is always good. Particularly like the faggots. Decor suits the age of the building. Nice quiet place to have a chat.

I recently had family to visit from Canada and they were booked into this hotel for 4 nights. Upon entering their room, they immediately asked to be changed to another one. They booked out the following morning and booked into the holiday inn express. Not a good advertisement for their first visit to the UK!!
