Gerard takes you through the history of the area, also the place of his birth and his family before him. He is passionate and humorous in his delivery, but it does not feel like a school history lesson. The sheep trial at the end was a lovely touch. The tea and biscuits were great. Its a bit of a drive from Westport but well worth the trip. Our group (5 Irish + 2 British) ALL thoroughly enjoyed the tour and thought it was value for money. Highly recommend as a place of beauty and historical knowledge.

A really enjoyable and enriching experience. We loved it. Stunning scenery. Hugely informative and engaging guide in Gerard with a real feel for the extraordinary history, geography and anthropology of the area. My two boys, 16 and 13, had a great time. It takes a lot to get them off their screens and this captured them for the whole three hours. It will stay with us for a long time. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Best experience so far in Mayo! Gerard's knowledge and passionate delivery of his family and local history before and after the famine was impressive, moving and memorable. Gerard and Maureen went out of their way for guests of tour, including letting us feed lambs, see their sheepdogs in action rounded off with a welcome cuppa. Would recommend this to all ages

Away beyond my expectations. The location and scenery and breath taking and especially when you reach Killary fjord. The tour is a beautiful walk back in history in every way. The view changes all the time. The tour is guided and tells a story of centuries of Irish history in such and engaging and real life way. Don’t hesitate to visit. It’s fantastic. We had two teenagers who enjoyed and especially the sheepdogs who rounded up the sheep in a great demo.
