The place is huge which can make you feel a bit insignificant but the rooms are really nice and the swimming pool is obviously ridiculous. We stayed in delux swimming pool view room which had a great view and really nice balcony sofa but couldn't stay outside too long as the mosquitos started biting. We then moved to a ground floor room so we could step from our balcony into the swimming pool, which is a nice feeling.
Breakfast has everything you need. We didn't eat in any other restaurants and instead enjoyed the restaurants on the beach only few meters away.

My family and I have just had 12 days in Phuket and spent 7 nights at the Marriott which is only 20 minutes from the airport.
Do not confuse this resort with the Mariott Vacation Club which is located in the same area - the Marriott Resort and Spa is much better.
The Marriott is part of a large international hotel chain and is frequented by discerning Asian / Japanese tourists - if you look for international hotels where predominantly Australians stay you will generally be disappointed.
The Marriott is a large comfortable resort on Mai Khao beach and offers 3 excellent and large pools, very comfortable rooms and 6 restaurants.
The resort is beautifully maintained and you get great value for money in what is a top quality resort and a great place to holiday and relax.
And then there are the baby elephants which are walked around the resort in the morning and late afternoon. Children are able to stroke, feed the animals and get their photos taken.
I cannot fault the resort for what it offers.

Room Tip: If you have younger children ask for a room on level 2 near the lobby. The main breakfast restaurants are also on level 2. If a couple I would ask for a top floor room as it is quieter ( with no one above you ). Also ask for a room on the north side with views of the water - we stayed in room 209 which is also a corner suite.

Stayed for 8 nights in an Oceanfront Suite. Booked early on one of their pay up front specials and it was a great deal and a beautiful room. Top floor south wing with views out across the beach and over the south pool. Very large room with huge walk in robe and huge bathroom with spa separate shower/ toilet/ vanities. Also an additional powder room. Housekeeping were friendly and efficient with plenty of bottled water replenished daily. Needed help getting our computer connection working and made 1 call and someone was there to help very promptly. Spent most of our time at South Pool area with plenty of lounges and staff providing complimentary cold water and fruit from time to time. Restaurants were all good and priced at what you would expect in a 5 star resort. Our teenage children had a twin room nearby. No connecting rooms to the suites. Yes it takes about 45 minutes to get to Patong, but one visit was more than enough! Restaurant and Tree House bar at Anantara next door are well worth the visit. Daily visits by Jumbo the elephant including swimming in the ocean with him were much enjoyed. We fed him many bananas. Beach was steep but swimmable for teenagers. This wouldn't be the case for younger children. There are lifeguards on the beach. Would stay again.

Room Tip: South wing facing pool area or corner ocean suite was fantastic. Kids enjoyed ground floor terrace where they could run in and out directly to the pool.

The marriot resort was a wonderful experience. The service impecable and the staff wonderful, catering to your every whim.
The food here is great too, from siam cafe to the poolside service all quite affordable. Local restaurants are plentiful too so its worth getting out and about. It is much easier to hire a car and drive around you see so much more and it is not too expensive to do.
Also staying poolside and relaxing is also a great option.
Cant wait to return here, sad to leave after 10 days of pure luxury. A paradise indeed awaits those who visit here.

If you’ve been to Middle Eastern hotels, you feel the hotel staff are doing their best because they are scared; they’re afraid of losing their jobs because of your complaints or if anything goes wrong; even their friendliness gives me a guilty feeling of exploitation. But on the other hand the staffs in JW Marriott Phuket, the staff were genuinely nice and friendly, always there to help with a smile. I read one review in Trip advisor that you don’t even need to ask, it’s there, they have already thought about it.
The main pool is simply amazing, landscaped 50/60m 2m deep and then there is also a kids pool. That’s not all. They also have two additional pool which are less busy and more of a relaxing pool but not small or shabby, very nice pools.
One thing that is quite understated is their children’s play area and facilities. For toddlers and teens they have plenty of activities and gaming option (as if Xbox and PS2/3’s aren’t already making us crazy)
Food is good and they have plenty of options as well. The Italian restaurant is only open at night and is very busy so booking in advance is highly advisable. Breakfast has a good selection but if you’re a meaty person that the option is very limited. Many types of noodles and rice but a few other continental items would be preferable.
One thing I must add which was really disappointing: we stayed there for seven days and only once we could get English breaksfast or black tea (same as English breakfast) for our breakfast. We were repeatedly told they run out of English breakfast but funnily every time they replenished our room tea and coffee they gave us English breakfast!!!
The lounge area has a beautiful mirror-pool (not for swimming) amazing place just to relax. Live music, bar, hanging bed/sofa-fantastic.
There was another significant issue, and I have written to the General Manager, which I think was just an one off incident so I’m not putting it here; if I don’t get a satisfactory answer I will certainly add it here.
Finally, we went to this hotel to relax; if you want the hustle-bustle of Phuket or all the night-life ‘red-lighted’ fun be advised this place is at least an hour’s drive from the nearest town.
If you are going to this JW Marriott at Mai Khao beach, a good time is almost guaranteed.

Room Tip: request for a sea or pool view first or second floor room
