These are all 2-bedroom apartments of standard you’ve come to expect from Marriott. They do seem a bit dark (we were on the second floor) because you have a forest of trees in front of you but it also gives you a feeling of being in the middle of a rainforest, which is quite nice.

There’s a really nice adult pool right there next to the beach and JW Marriott is 2 min walk and of course has restaurants, shops etc.

Having just come from a Marriott resort in Bali we first thought that the price for the breakfast, BHT 750 pp (@ $24) if you buy in advance, was a bit expensive - and the breakfast in Bali was nice - but I have to say, the breakfast at the JW Marriott is in a league of its own .. there’s definitely something for everyone!

If you want to buy your own food and drinks to have in your room you have 3 options; buy in advance through Marriott (most expensive but also most convenient), buy at the supermarket at Turtles Village, which has been built almost as an extension to the nearby resorts, or you can walk a little further to the main road, head towards the big Shell gas station and shop at the supermarket there (limited selection but @ 40% cheaper).

The towel animals in the room was a nice touch, a new one every day, so we ended up with a whole zoo :-)

It's scary to see the amount of development that's occurring in the area of JW Marriott and Anantara (Even "Turtle Village" is being expanded). Further down the narrow, already crowded road, toward the Renaissance and the relatively new Sala Resort and Spa, is a nice lake with a road/track around it that is just great for cycling, using the bicycles provided at JW Marriott. But, acres of trees have been knocked down and construction looks to be underway... Need I say more?

Anyway, we enjoyed our annual stay at Marriott Phuket beach Club (the self-contained apartments within the JWM complex). This time, we really appreciated the tireless smiles of the pool staff: Lert, Dee, Joke, Arm, Up, Audy, Kai, Farid, Ya.
They are not always that busy, but they still manage to focus on the guests' needs and bring towels, iced water, bananas, watermelon over to you as soon as you sit down on a Kabana. Talk with them and you realise that they are a mine of information about the area and are very willing to tell you which fruit vendor on the side of the ride has the best pineapples etc.

Another shout-out to the Kids' club staff. It doesn't matter how many, or what sort of kids they get, they smile and take care of them with great patience and humour.

A tip from our own three primary schoolers... Study the daily schedule of activities in advance to decide what times they simply MUST be at the Kids' club, and therefore which parent needs to be available to sign them in and out - it can be the most logistically challenging part of a family holiday at the Phuket Beach Club!

Room Tip: Closer to the ocean - even if you don't get a view, you'll be closer to the facilities and further from mosquitoes at the lakes.

We stayed at Marriott Beach Club for a week. From the moment we arrived until we checked out, we were treated with excellent customer service. They took copies of our passport on arrival, obviously noticed my date of birth, and they delivered a birthday cake on my birthday!
Our two bedroom two baths suite had a full kitchen with a large balcony and a laundry facility in the unit. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the beach side massages every day and we walked around the landscaped garden every day to go to the swimming pool and the beach.
We didn't try any of the restaurants at this resort, but we walked outside and found a lady who sells BBQ chicken on a stick, sticky rice and papaya salad. We never got sick from her food and it was cheap and always delicious. She was there after 5:00 every evening. We also enjoyed the fresh fruit from the fruit stand near the main road. It's an easy 5 minute walk from the resort and they have delicious exotic fruit.
The only thing I wish was different about this resort is the location. It took us almost an hour to go to any night markets or shopping malls. It costs about 1800 baht for the return transportation with three hour shopping time included. We went out to three markets and two shopping malls during our stay. It was almost $60 to get out to town each time so it was fun, but an expensive trip each time.
If I could do it again, I would probably go to a big super market on the first day and get all of our groceries there. The small super market near the resort lacks variety and it costs three times more than the big super markets in town. We ate our breakfast in our room so shopping at the small super market near the resort ended up being expensive.
Overall, it was a quiet and beautiful resort and we had fun.

Marriott Vacation Club Phuket is not what it used to be few years ago. The place looks old and needs a major refurb in all aspects- property is aging , staff behavior is strange, lack of English speaking staff , no Thailand cheery customer friendliness at all and general upkeep of the place. This has all been taken over by rude and callous attitude. There is no THAI hospitality left.

I am a vegetarian and with the vegan movement this place has very limited choices in Siam Deli, Kabuki and La Cucina.

All MVCI staff wants to do is sell more. Can never get a free stay after being a paid VIP member if you do not book 4-6 months in advance. Same property is available anytime if you are willing to pay Big $’s. Interesting isn’t it. When they sold me Phuket beach club the whole idea was you use your paid week. This tone again answer was no but got the same place by paying couple of hundred US dollars a night. So what happened to members - lowest priority. All they are keen in the 90 min talk track is to up-sell. Half of the team does not know details and cannot converse for more than few mins in English. Probably they find it difficult for selling to sales people like me.

Defeats the whole purpose of being an MVCI member and destination points member.

I honestly believe that the whole MVCI Phuket has lost its charm and not worth worrying about anymore for people like me.

Good luck and choice is yours...

Regards,
Sanjay
