My husband and I spent 6 nights at the Dick Turpin Cottage in January 2015. I cannot say enough to praise it...... so instead, I'm going to go as far to say, this: clearly, I cannot know what you as a holidaymaker, considering going to stay at the Dick Turpin Cottage might be - interested in, worried about, or looking for......but I don't need to know - because everything is catered for.
The cottage already has every luxury you could conceivably need/think of, for a relaxing break away from it all - whatever the time of year....I kept thinking "Where's the...." only to turn around and find it before I'd completed my thought..!!...perfectly furnished kitchen - CHECK, huge bath adorned with luxurious soaps and oils - CHECK, flatscreen TVs in sitting room and bedroom - CHECK, most comfortable colossal bed I've ever slept on - CHECK, fabulous wood burning stove for cosy winters - CHECK, beautifully framed outdoor table for magical breakfasts al fresco in summer - CHECK, perfectly structured walk up the valley through fairytale landscape and picture postcard views - CHECK.....a million and one little surprises left for you by THE most thoughtful hosts on the planet - CHECK)..... But if by some unlikely, pig-flies-by miracle, you find yourself, or your holiday in any way lacking - your hosts will move heaven and earth to fix it for you. I challenge you to find such occasion to call on them though! Simply : it's a cottage that could not be more - by hosts that could not do more...and in a beautiful part of the world to boot. We were very lucky to have had the pleasure.
This is the third time in four years my wife and I (we live n Australia and didn’t visit the UK last year) have stayed at Dick Turpin, a self catering rental cottage in the grounds of Cockford Hall near Clun in Shropshire. Imagine if you will, driving up toward the hall, parking outside Dick Turpin and entering a spotless well appointed cottage filled with light. Looking round the living area you can see vases of fresh flowers and moving to the window ,uninterrupted views of the rolling Shropshire countryside stretching before you as far as your eye can see. No exaggeration I can assure you. Also in the living area is a TV, an Pod sound system, complete with iPod and a Linn sound system. Then on into the spacious bedroom dominated not by the king size bed, that later you will find extremely comfortable, but by the vibrant colours of the fabric covering the walls and complemented by the headboard of the bed. It really is so very different and so outstanding. Next into the bathroom which too is spacious and is fitted with a full size bath (with a support for your book should you feel like a read) and a shower that seems the sixe of a small house. The kitchen is well appointed with a large fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, induction hob and dishwasher plus really top class pots and pans and a plethora of kitchen equipment. All this makes self catering a pleasure rather than a chore. On that, Roger Wren, the owner of Dick Turpin and a most charming man, provides some provisions and a bottle of champagne to greet arriving visitors. Everything is done to ensure you have a memorable stay which is exactly what we enjoyed. Highly recommended.
