I stayed at this hotel again in March 2017 after not having visited Guapiles for 5 year. I have always liked this hotel and found my stay even better this time. The gym is expanded and the best gym that I have used globally, seriously, and I travel a lot. After your workout, take a swim in the Olympic size, immaculately well maintained pool. Tennis, basketball, mini football also available. The rooms are not luxurious, but all are very clean, have AC, and ample, modern bathroom. Wifi is free. The restaurant is simply excellent, very well prepared meals with diverse selection. Great seafood ! This hotel is an excellent choice for business, private, or family, and is a perfect introduction to the tropical Atlantic zone of Costa Rica. It is not a high end Marriott or Hyatt, it doesn't want or need to be that, but rather a very reasonably priced, friendly (and not just standard, superficial , "nice", but people who you can have nice chats with, including the manager of the hotel . My favorite hotel in the Atlantic zone!

Room Tip: The rooms in the back half or newer, and very ample, secure parking.

We stayed there one night on our way to Tortuguero. It is a big resort, with several pools and restaurants, frequented by many locals. But the services are poor. We ate in the small restaurant at the pool: it was awful. The room was in poor shape as well. Basic furnishment, ugly white light, bathroom needing fixing. Far from is expected from such a high-rated hotel. One good thing though: they kept us part of the luggage for 2 days while we went to Tortuguero and back.

50 metre pool with slide, basketball, football, tenis, gym, casino, pool tables, pin-pong. all great. My main gripe with this hotel was the loud bass heavy thumping music you could clearly hear from the room coming from the gym. When we arrived in the afternoon we asumed it was part of a wedding or some kind of celebration, but when we heard it thumping again the next morning at 9am we discovered where it was coming from.
Rooms very spartan. 3 guests only 2 towels. Brekfast buffet included in the rate. Very basic sellection only three fruits (pineapple, melon and banana) quite poor for a tropical country. no bacon or sausages on offer. Very poor quality danish/croissants. Coffee was not great.
The service was just adequate, did not come across as friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a room as far away from the gym as possible.

We chose to spend New Year's Eve at Hotel Suerre so we saw the hotel at its "finest" and it really made us shudder! We were not entitled to fresh towels till 6 pm (hotel policy - no apologies). Indeed, we came back to our room to find not a single towel in the entire room so we were not able to even wash our hands! Disgraceful! Avoid at all costs.

Very happy with our stay at the Suerre. We come to Guapiles fairly often and always stay here. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are quite nice, the restaurant has good food and the pool and sports facilities are great. Great for family travel. Highly recommended.
