This is a really personal place. It does not have many rooms (about 5) and one common lounge/dining room. It is really well designed as it has the common room totally glass and looking out on to the mountains.

Auli is really unique in that you don’t just have views of mountains in the distance but you are right in the middle of them. Devi Darshan Lodge really takes advantage of this. Also it is positioned so you see both the sun rise and the sunset (at least in winter). It really is just spectacular!

The lodge is very simple and not flash – more like a backpackers or farm house. But it is the common room that really is just unbelievable!

The bedrooms are a good size and the bathrooms are a reasonable size.
The down side is that there is little heating and not always hot water. As we were there in winter this was a bit hard. However this is the nature of this location and all the other hotels are in a similar situation.

We even looked around a couple of other hotels and this lodge was the best. The others may look fancier on line but are really quite run down. Devi Darshan is also more personal and much better value for money.

The Lodge does have a treat though and that is electric blankets that work well and make the night’s sleep wonderful.

The owner, Sunil (who does not live on site but I communicated with via email and phone ahead of time), is extremely helpful and kindly spent quite a bit of time giving me various tips on our whole trip.

The staff at the lodge were wonderful. The English is basic but they did everything possible to help. They cooked us some great meals and since the place is small we could select when we wanted breakfast or dinner. They can also make a packed lunch for you if you need. They also help show you where to walk etc.

Note that you need to pay cash so have that with you. There was a little snow when we went so the kids could experience some skiing with great instructors.

There were 8 of us so we had the whole place to ourselves which was great – like our own cottage!

Definitely the best place in Auli!

Room tip: Doesn't really matter which room as there is just one short hallway with 5 rooms.

Based on all the reviews I had read on tripadvisor, we decided to spend our time at the Devi Darshan Lodge in Auli.. I had a conversation with Mr. Sunil, who was very friendly and guided us well. After the first conversation, I had decided that this is gng to be my hideout for those 4 days. He clearly mentioned that it is not a luxurious resort and we can take our call if we want to stay there or not.
We were 5 ppl and co-incidentally there was no other person in the lodge.. We had the entire lodge to ourselves. It was amazing! We just went to our rooms to sleep. Most of the time we were sitting at their sitting area in the dining hall. That place had two heaters, lots of books to read, tea/coffee making machine, and ofcourse spectacular view. This resort claims to have the best view in Auli, and i cant agree more. The staff was very very friendly and were always on their toes. They cooked amazing food and made sure we didnt face any issues regarding hot water, cold water, unlimited cold coffees, pakoras, trekking shoes, etc. I want to mention that Ashish, AJeeth, and Pawan were taking care of the lodge and they were very nice. Now, I know why this lodge has amazing reviews in spite of the fact, its very basic. It is because of their staff. These people didn't leave any stone unturned to make our trip memorable.
The rooms were cozy and every bed had an electric blanket. That’s all what their rooms comprised of. So, if you are looking for bath tubs, and Jacuzzis, and TV, and music systems, try another destination, as Auli is all about being in open and experiencing the chill in the air.
Auli has left me awestruck and Devi Drashan Lodge added wonders to my experience.
The only thing they can work on is to reconstruct the exterior of the lodge.

If you are looking for hotel or resort amenities, Sorry friends Devi Darshan Lodge is not for you. It is a basic lodge type of facility with homely environment and Awesome View of Ice Capped view which no hotel or resort can give you.
Bathrooms are basic with geyser just in one room, hot water generally being provided by lodge staff at request due to electricity issue.
Food is homely and traditional and you can always ask for what you like?
This lodge is run by botia community with their financial development in mind.
I was really sceptical as two other families were with me depending on my decision to stay at Devi Darshan Lodge. If something goes wrong then i would have been centre of ire.
But stay at Devi Darshan was best decision we took leaving other hotels.
What to expect:
1. Awesome view no other hotel or resort will give you.
2. No TV, PC or other source of entertainment but books to read.
3. Rooms are meant for sleeping only in night. You will be a fool if you plan to stay in bed till late. rooms are basic and rustic with warmers and quilt.
4. Unlimited tea, coffee, milk all the time available.
5. Only one bathroom has geyser as there is electricity problem and cannot take high load. But you will get buckets of hot water as you wish with little wait. Just think of visiting your village where there is limited resources.
5. Service is really good. They are your Guide and will accompany you places as your guide friend without asking anything which no one else can do. They are best in Auli, badrinath.
6. Really good place for smaller kids with ample space to play, read and watch mountains.
7. When you last heard cow bells while grazing. In early morning and afternoon you will hear the music of cow bells which i am sure you will not hear even in your village.
8. Please remember that you are staying in place which lacks worldly comfort, hence tell the lodge guys well in advance if you want something special like chicken, or some special dish. Every commodity is brought here from Joshimutt which takes around 1-2 hours and after sunset it is really hard to get anything. As you are staying on top of mountain.
9. You love Mountain Village Life.
10. you can watch mountains for hours sitting at a place.
11. You can wash your own clothes.
12. you love trekking.
13. you love to watch sun rise and sunset in open area not from a window or bed.

Who should not visit:
Who wants tv
who wants to sleep all day in his or her room
who wants a hotel facility
It is more like a hostel facility where you will get basic facilities only. if you are looking for corporate hotel or even two star facility. Stay Away.
here you might carry you bucket of warm water on your own.

Room tip: All rooms are basic. This is lodge.

The lodge boasts great views from its dining area, but not from the rooms. The rooms are very basic but clean and well equipped with heaters and warmers.

The best part of the lodge is the hospitality of the people who run the lodge. They are mostly locals and most of them are mountaineering and skiing enthusiasts. They can provide best insights about the area and can also give a look inside the local lifestyle.

The staff is very accommodating and will do everything in their power to fulfill their requests.

After a week long trek in Valley of Flowers , we decided to visit Auli to get the view of the beautiful Nanda Devi. And I must thank my friend for booking this lodge. As we entered the place, we felt a complete sense of calm & home like atmosphere. The view of Nanda devi from the sitting room was stunning & very soothing. Though we reached slightly earlier than our check in time, the caretaker Bijay was kind enough to quickly serve us hot noodles & fresh tea. Then on, there was not a single moment in the entire day, when we would not smile feeling incredibly happy being there, either just sitting & watching Nanda devi or chatting with Bijay or relishing the delicious food. Though many told us vsiting Auli in a 'non-skii' time was of no good, I would say it has its own perks. Auli in green is equally stunning!! :) Bijay took us up till the view point , which added to the awe we already had! There were several other famous peaks which he helped us identify. We even did a bit of bird watching..spotting few rare Himalayan birds. All in all,it is a Great place to stay with clean rooms, great food & beautiful views.. importantly a very friendly host :)

Room tip: We were in 'Monal' which was a great room!
