This is a must for wildlife lovers. You are collected from your hotel at around 08:30 and then you are taken to a collective pick up point in the city of Tulum. This is the last time you can apply sunscreen.Once they have organised the groups of 12 you get back in to the transport and head for Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve.
Once you arrive you are met by your first boat driver that will take you over the lagoon. There is only six people per boat. Life jackets are compulsory which is a good thing as the do nip along the lagoon. After about 45 minutes you arrive at Punts Allen where you pick up a slightly bigger boat that will take you into the ocean, again it is only six people per boat which is great. Then it is off to look for wildlife. We were lucky enough to see sea turtles, pelicans and dolphins.
You then have the opportunity to snorkeling next to the second biggest coral reef in the world. After this you are taken to a patch of the ocean that you can stand up in as it is no deeper than waist level, great if you are not good at open water swimming.
It's time for lunch, soft drinks are free beer was 60 pesos. Lunch consisted of one fish and one chicken dish with salad rice or mash potatoes.
Limited shower/toilet facilities.
After this it is back to the first smaller boats to take you back over the lagoon. But before you get back it is time to find crocodiles.
You land and the bus driver and guide take you back to your hotel.
Truly a remarkable day might be slightly overpriced if you don't see any of the wildlife (this can not be guaranteed) But we were lucky and saw everything. We would highly recommend.
