We stayed at the Diamond Resort, not the hotel... seems they're like siamese twins but I'm not sure the facilities at the hotel are the same as the Resort. Our apartment was spacious and very well equipped. The only thing missing was ice! I would have expected ice in the freezer or at least an ice machine somewhere on the property. Anyway not a show stopper. The apartment was very nicely decorated with top quality furniture and furnishings. Bed very comfortable. Huge windows with the 14 foot high ceilings flooded the rooms with light. Then there's the garden area. It's huge, we didn't have time to explore it all. It's quite rustic, ie not manicured and carved in the hillside behind the Palazzo. The views over Soriano towards the castle are a real treat.

Room Tip: Rooms 7,8 and 13 have garden patios

I was supposed to be on holiday with my best girlfriend and sight see from this central location, but she didn't end up coming. I felt very safe, received great recommendations, and enjoyed the local towns and scenery with the help of the hotel staff. My room was charming and the resort reminded me of why I wanted to stay outside of popular tourist areas: I felt like I was living like a real Italian.

The manager, Antonella Allegrini, will make sure you are more than happy with your stay. She is gracious, attentive, helpful, intelligent, and responsive. The rest of the staff reflect her determination to provide the best possible service. Matteo, Chiara, Marzia, and all the rest of the staff stay several steps ahead of your needs.

The views from the resort are spectacular. The old Palazzo has a ton of character. The rooms are works of art, some quite literally. The room service is exceptional.

The town is unprepossessing, but has its charm. The people are friendly and there are some good restaurants. The best restaurant in the region is right here, at the Palazzo.

We use this location as bass to visit the area, Spoleto, San Casciano dei Bagni, Orvieto, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, etc. It is perfect for that. You can even get into Rome, but we usually visit there, before we come here.

This hotel is a beautiful building in a typical Italian town on a hilltop, around 90 minutes from Rome.
The hotel has some large beautiful rooms, lovely gardens and a shady, relaxing barbecue area hidden away at the top of the grounds, giving you a stunning view of the castle and area around.
The room we had was three rooms, a kitchenette, tv room and bedroom. Wooden floors, ceiling and window shutters. Small bathroom with shower and a large roll top bath in the bedroom which was odd!
There wasn't unfortunately any air con in our room, just a large fan which circulated the air, other rooms had air con so be sure to ask. It was very warm and we had to keep the windows closed to keep out the sun.
There is a restaurant in the hotel which serves evening meals, we didn't try it. There is no breakfast served nor lunch.
Breakfast would make this a better place to stay, although there is a busy cafe in the square which profits from this oversight.
Be aware that most businesses close around 1.30 p.m. for a siesta.
We found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful.
There is a steep walk up to the hotel, elderly would find it hard going.
There is wifi but it is charged at €5.95 per 24 hours.
As said, the gardens area is lovely, it is a relaxing spot, but with no pool or breakfast I would not make it a long stay hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask about air conditioning.

Well worth the effort. You do need to be able to manage the hills and walking but beautiful apartments with stunning views. They have made a great job of keeping and using the original features of the buildings and the staff are truly charming.
