We stayed and dined at The Marquis recently and had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful, our room (valley suite) was so warm and welcoming and decorated to an impeccably high standard and was spotless. The bottle of Prosecco waiting for us was a lovely touch.

Our meal was brilliant, my husband enjoyed the burger (which looked amazing!) I had the smoked haddock - was divine. We will most certainly be returning.

Booked in to stay one Saturday night and an evening meal first weekend after valentines.
Have had many friends and customers stay and eat here all said how good it was so decided to give it a go.
Nice greeting to start with and showed us to our room , number 5. What a lovely room , superbly fitted out , lovely fixtures and fittings, large shower room, very comfortable double bed with quality bedding ,good coffee pod and tea making machine with a large tv including sky.Really cannot fault the room at all.
We went for few drinks at the bar before evening meal, large selection of drinks on offer with a menu book for something different. Lovely lady behind the bar serving us also.
Taken to our table in the main restaurant, really beautiful restaurant loads of oak beams and a really nice feel to it , the service was spot on ,really good.
We decided to share a Camembert with garlic toast and a honey truffle sauce, Devine ! Then I had the double lamb chop with butter de Paris triple cooked chips and fine beans , delicious, my wife had the half Suffolk chicken fine beans with mushrooms and dauphinois, I had to help her to try and finish her plate was very nice also. I had the flaming brûlée for dessert for a bit of a special effects dessert was very nice and of good size. Our meal overall was really good along with the service and was a reasonable cost with our couple drinks ( no wine) under £100 for 3 course a la carte in a beautiful restaurant is great value.
Breakfast was also very good we were the first down and indeed had almost finished before the next guests arrived, we are not late risers even on a Sunday . The only thing I could see missing was no yoghurt and rather limited pastries if you didn’t want any of the cooked food on the menus .
We would highly recommend a stay here and also an evening meal and look forward to returning.

Once again, The Marquis delivers to a very high standard in every area. Service: prompt, professional, friendly, efficient and professional. Menu: varied, interesting, well-described and inviting. Food: flavoursome, beautifully presented and delicious. Matched to individual requests/requirements. Desserts: tempting, interesting and all to be resisted and/or sampled. Drinks: Good, appropriately varied wine list. Cocktails and dessert wines available.
The Marquis succeeds in hitting every spot. A great dining/drinking/socialising venue. We are so lucky to have you so near to our home.

This is just perfect from being greeted at the reception, shown your room and dealing with any issue. We asked to have breakfast a little earlier and they rang the chef at home to ask him to come in to ensure we had our breakfast before leaving.
Staff dealt with everything in a prompt, courteous and polite manner. All staff made you feel very special and had a light hearted manner which made you relax and enjoy the sumptuous surroundings. All staff looked professional too in their blue gingham shirts and navy ties.
The everywhere is incredibly clean and very well decorated to a high standard. The furnishings are very comfortable, bedding and towels are a very good quality. Robes could be a little larger, but that is a minor matter.
The dining areas offer a wonderful range of food; we chose the Chateaubriand, which was superb it just melted in your mouth. Everything, including the wine was absolutely fantastic and we have already booked to return to dinner in a couple of weeks.
This is certainly a place to celebrate special occasions and I have rebooked a birthday treat for my man later in the year.
The Marquis certainly shows that there is a level of service that should be offered by everyone. Many 4* and 5* hotels we have stayed in could learn a lesson or two from the Marquis in just how to give 5 star service in all departments. They were all efficient and yet have the time to make you feel comfortable and special.
Congratulations to you all and thank you for making our anniversary a very special one. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Eaten and drunk here many times, but was my first stay, rooms are lovely, very comfortable bedding and decor lovely. Despite being at the front of the building no traffic noise. Great attentive staff and a lovely breakfast.
