I was on a grand tour of Finland and stopped by this small town of Alavus, with this hotel as the only option for staying the night. The hotel is built in an old 70's building with almost teenage staff and mould smelling floor carpets.

I don't mind if a hotel is a bit worn out but that should reflect in the price as well. The ranges between 70 and 120 eur for a room are on par with good chain hotels in Helsinki, but there is no complementary sanitary products in the bathroom, the cleaner did not do the bed (only emptied one of the two trash bins in the room), and there are no light blocking curtains, and the blinds were stuck half-way up. There is no AC, just a vent sucking air out and it's loud as heck running all the night.

They claim there was a renovation just recently, but I don't really see anything modern here except for the small flat screen tv and wifi. The worn out glass fiber wallpapers, showerheads, wood paneling, piping, everything reeks of the 80's. For a similar price there is a horrible kitsch hotel called Keskinen Tuuri, but at least that one is not all worn out.

The only positive thing I found was that due to the nonexistent number of guests the wifi was working fine and I could achieve speeds of up to 1,5 megs per second.
