Thanks a lot to everybody working her , they were all amazing. This is really a place to relax in a beatifull place , with stunning view over the ocean. To rough beach to go snorkling , but when you have a pool by your self, beautifull villa, amazing food and staff... what else do you need.
We hope we come back some time in the future. For a honeymoon it is just perfect :)

We'd been to saffron for dinner on our anniversary. Ambience was lovely so as the staff. Ordered the food suggested by the staff. Fish soup and dessert was a hit in what we'd ordered. Prawns appetizers (ordered medium spice level) were way too sweet to have hence had to ask for some chilli sauce (but it didn't serve our purpose of having a tasty dish). Same applies to the maincourse (chicken and eggplant curry) was sweet too. Lastly, our happy mood had gained conscious immediately after having dessert (it's delicious - dessert with litchi ice cream). We would definitely visit this place again to have desserts.

We didn't stay in the hotel but we came to have dinner in the restaurant (separate review), but we wanted to review the hotel as we thought it was incredibly beautiful, and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and courteous.

I get it! The people who stay at a Banyan Tree anywhere in the world have money. And they are looking for luxury, indulgence, exceptional service and every desire and whim being cheerfully met, and will be happy to pay for such excess. But there's also a good chance that they have traveled all over the world and eaten in some of the finest restaurants anywhere and will consequently be discerning enough to know what is good value.

Don't get me wrong - the inclusive breakfast is exceptional and was a treat every morning. But the restaurant food during the day and evening service is ordinary and unremarkable, and most certainly not worth the ridiculous pricing. For example, the much-hyped Thai restaurant Saffron, was very disappointing. I love Thai food, but this restaurant was not memorable compared to some of the fantastic Thai meals I have had over the years.

This is of course deliberate. The business model for this type of luxury resort is that they do not want their guests to self-cater or to move outside of the resort. They want to control everything the guest does, from booking all their tours, transportation, and meals. The property is remote and a long way from anything, therefore difficult to just "go somewhere else for a meal". Unless you hire a car and are prepared to negotiate the narrow, dangerous roads at night to find a local restaurant, you are a captive customer with no real alternative other than to eat in-house.

However, what you will get at this particular Banyan Tree is remoteness and luxury. Perfect for weddings or special occasions, or just to be indulged. But make sure you bring your cards that don't have limits.

Only popped in for coffee and to scope the joint. It's a beautiful property with great staff and very high quality touches but having found out that you essentially can't swim on the beach between May and September we'd never stay here. Anse Intendance is stunning but you can see the currents and it's evidently a very dangerous place to enter the water. The pool is visually on point but that's not really good enough! Can't fault the hotel and staff but I'd be pretty miffed if I booked and then found out I couldn't swim.
