This huge complex, once the staff housing for people working on the Panama Canal is just 1/2 mile from the canal and over looking the Charges River. The grounds are well maintained and the trees full of pink faced parrots, motmots, chachalacas and hundreds of other birds. The field trip staff lead by Jose Soto are very knowledgeable. Jose himself is able to " whistle up" birds from the deeper forest by imitating their calls.
We had an all inclusive package which included drinks and meals. Very nicely done and a good idea since we never worried about whether to get something or not. The dining room has a commanding view of the river and the hills beyond. The bar is off the cavernous atrium populated with plants and a waterfall. the pools are wonderful with waterfalls and lovely shapes.
three of us went and we got a family room with a loft. Two beds and a bath up a spiral staircase and a king sized bed below. the balcony was spacious and we enjoyed the afternoons and early morning with binoculars watching the birds and the terrain. Very relaxing. It had a hammock and chairs and table. the afternoon rainfall in the rainforest, made it a perfect place to enjoy outdoors and stay completely dry.
we enjoyed the spa one afternoon. A large well appointed place with plenty of options on the spa menu.
