This hotel is situated on the River Avon. Lovely setting beside an old Toll bridge and weir. The down side I found was the size of the room, no good if you have a large suitcase! Also the breakfast needed alot to be desired!

The staff were lovely and the hotel was clean. We ate in the onsite restaurant on the first night and the food was good. We were "upgraded" to a roim in the hotel upon arrival which was freat as we had read negative reviews of rooms in the lodge. Our room (103) was pleasant with good views over the river but we were directly at the top of a steep staircase and other residents seemed to be very heavy footed climbing the stairs (it often seemed like they were in our room!) The room had a small fridge which was handy.

On our last morning we had breakfast in the hotel and the breakfast again was perfectly pleasant however it seemed thay the electric blew whilst we were eating and the food warmers turned off and the toaster too. Therefore we were unable to have toast with our breakfast.

Outside there was a boat which runs down the river to Bath during the summer. It apparently usually runs until 31st October but was running the weekend we were there due to the good weather.

We had 3 rooms booked. We were given the lodge, these are small rooms with a double bed and en suite. The lodge s very tired but very clean. It reminded me of a pontins set up.
The bed was ok, shower very good, under floor heating. Unfortunately the heating couldn’t be turned down so we roasted all night!
Breakfast was good, very tasteful. Staff were friendly and helpful.
In summary, this is a tired hotel, lovely setting, great staff but needs some work.

We were given a free upgrade to a superior room with a four poster bed, not sure why it was a superior room. The room was clean but, as with the hotel, it needs a little TLC. The view was lovely, looking out over the river and toll bridge. The car park is narrow but we were able to easily park our 4x4, as were many other guests. Personally I don't think I would have wanted to be in the lodge as I looked very old and tired. There is a lovely walk into Bath along the canal and the number 3 bus leaves at he top of the road. This is a good base to visit Bath if you are on a budget.
