this hotel is perfect for people with no mobility problems and those that like a high standard ,although all inclusive it seems in the main that most treated it with respect .the food was very good and although i am a fussy eater found more than enough on the varied menus available in the speciality venues and the buffet restaurant was good .when you first arrive book your visits to the speciality restaurants a.s.a.p as places and best times soon go the italian was very good and the best one for breakfast we booked six of our seven days there , it was our second best for evening dining but the french restaurant is the best book early or you will not get in only small but perfect .
the pools are well located and sunbeds are some times hard to find after 9-00clock as people tend to put towels on to reserve them though this is not the hotels wishes just ignorant selfish people not only germans but all nations . We had a superior room which was perfect sea views and quiet . the small village has numerous restaurants and bars which made a nice change and a walk along the beech although not for the infirm was enjoyable . i rate this hotel highly the staff were all very good and freindlys
i hope to return soon if the price is right, we stayed as part of a cruise and stay package and this was heaven after a week on a Thomson tub

Room Tip: supperior rooms were very good

I returned yesterday from a 10 day holiday at the La Grotta with my partner, my first time to Corfu and to La Grotta.

The weather was fantastic, and the hotel is beautiful and very clean- we read a lot about this hotel so knew it was on a cliff and was quite hilly so that wasn't a problem. Especially the comments about the steps to the beach, they aren't that bad- the beach however, is awful- not a reflection necessarily on the hotel but worth mentioning. It is very pebbly and rocky, and hard to walk on. The tunnel bar at the beach is nice though, and the people commenting on 'awful music' I cannot disagree with more.

At 28 and 29 we were one of the youngest couples there during the first week, and felt that the 'entertainment' is targeted very much towards the older generation, with a lot of classical music and it only lasts an hour- therefore we gave up on it, and sat either on the reception balcony bar (where they play music) the other balcony bar or went into the village.

The food was AWFUL and verging on unacceptable for a supposed 4T hotel. The buffet food especially was on some days inedible and I refuse to eat pasta and chips on holiday, The a la cartes were OK, the Greek one Areti being the best, but you can only use them all once per stay so we ate out a lot- on that note Sebastians restaurant in the village is incredible, the stuffed squid was amazing!

We read about booking breakfasts in the a la carte, which we only did on the last day as we didn't bother with breakfast otherwise- to be fair this was OK but we were told it was fully booked and they could squeeze us in- it was empty.

The ironing scenario is an actual JOKE and a con! 10 days worth of clothes that had been pre-ironed but packed into a case, even when hung up, will need ironing. But apparently the hotel don't supply irons for 'Safety Purposes'. If that was the case, then it should be a free service that is provided, not an absolute rip off at £7 a dress!! needless to say we got ironed what was desperately needed at left the rest- not because we are tight but I refuse to be ripped off.

Finally the pool is nice, and is clean, but the reviews are true, you have to get down there at 6.30am some mornings to get a bed by the pool. By half 7 they are pretty much all reserved.

A nice hotel- terrible food and I wouldn't return.

There's a lot to like about this hotel, especially the location and the staff who are really good and clearly trying hard, but we were very disappointed with the food quality in the main buffet. It is works canteen cooking of a pretty basic order, badly labelled (if at all) over-cooked, over-salted and unimaginative. We've stayed at many Thomson hotels and this is the worst we've encountered and in the end it ruined a two week stay. You can eat in the a la carte places but that's not the point really.

Readers pls note - We paid extra for a sea view bungalow room but it's clear the main hotel rooms are a much better option. We had a small bedroom and a large, very dark second room. OK and functional but somehow disappointing. The Thomson rep Rebecca was rude and defensive at every encounter, even querying why we wanted a reading light in the sitting room. She's not up to the job and needs replacing.

Chatting to other guests, tellingly, we didn't meet anyone who was planning to come back to the hotel. There's a lot of choice out there and for all the efforts of the lovely staff, for us, the food and the room mean we'll look elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Avoid bungalow rooms, go for the main hotel sea view.

I wasn't impressed on arrival as I thought I'd been dropped in the middle of nowhere in a hotel that looked like a revamped Second World War installation but don't mind admitting I was wrong. Hotel is first class. Staff so friendly. Food choice excellent. Lovely village ten minutes walk away. Choice of public transport or hotel shuttle bus into Corfu town. A very relaxing holiday. Highly recommended.

A group of 8 stayed here for three nights following an Adriatic cruise. The hotel is fantastic having recently been refurbished and extended. How ever as it is built into the side of a mountain be warned that anyone with mobility or heart problems may have to think twice before booking. Though buggies are on call to transport guests around this does not include up and down to the beach.
Also my only other criticism is that the resraurant can appear chaotic with waiters seemingly floating about serving any tables they chance upon. I suggest allocating a number of tables to each waiter as we would be initially served by one member of staff who would then not be seen for the rest of the meal . Busy times can be a problem and queuing was frequent. Perhaps a first and second sitting allocation could help this?
All in all a very relaxing and pleasant stay. And we would come back again
