We had the Cozida lunch as part of our Furnas tour and loved it- lots of food and very tasty- included rice and some fantastic fresh bread. Best to go after 1:00 p.m. It seems to cater to tours but that's okay- it wasn't too crowded and the food was fresh and hot. Good coffee

We arrived just before the "Cozido" was scheduled to be delivered and were surprised that guests that arrived after us were served first. They were accompanied by a local tour guide so they must visit on a frequent basis so therefore the preferred treatment was given. Optically it didn't sit right with us. Also they were given a dessert that was not made available to other customers. Looking a little shady.

Situated just outside the thermals spas in the town of Furnas. Famous for their Cozida das Caldeiras, which is the stew of pork, beef, chicken, sausage, potato’s, kale, and cabbage. The stew is cooked underground in the volcanic thermal heat. The restaurant is typical San Miguel local restaurant. Service was good. Full bar and restaurant is very good.

We arrived before lunch time and got a table for 2 without booking and after we got seated in a matter of seconds the place was packed. We took the stew made in natural ovens heated by volcanic activity. It was delicious and definitely worth to try.

more than 1 hour waiting between starter and main dish...
