Summer Breeze unlike many restaurants in Furnas is actually not closed between lunch and supper. Being from North America - we are used to eating well before 7 pm - the usual opening time for most. We arrived at 5 pm and started with 2 bowls of the soup of the day- vegetable soup and some bread. The soup was warm and tasty. Next I had a beef steak grilled to perfection the wY I liked it - medium rare. Came with fries and an assortment of buttered carrots, zucchini and onions. Delicious. My partners meal was the grilled tuna. It came with a nice salad, black eyed peas, vegetables and boiled potatoes. She thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were so happy that we plan to go back tomorrow. Great meals. Nice place

This little place was perfect for our holiday. First it was 400 m straight up the path from our hotel. We didn’t want anything fancy or expensive and was looking for something simple, fresh and homemade.
Even though we eat meat, most of the Azorean dishes we found were heavily meat oriented. This place offered both so we could have something a little lighter if desired.

We loved it so much, we came here twice!

The first dinner we both had soup for starters and a main dish each—I had the popular chicken bolo which was a chicken burger with egg, ham and cheese on the local bolo levedos bun. My friend had a ham and cheese toastie which she ended saying was her favourite food item of the whole trip. We shared the delicious chocolate mousse—it was simple, very chocolatey without being overly sweet. I also had a glass of wine and my friend had a soda. The total bill came to €19.

On our last night, we craved the chocolate mousse and the ham and cheese toastie again so we went back. Again we both ordered starters, drinks, and 2 mains plus dessert. This time had I ordered a salad to start which was so huge I ate four helpings from it before it was finished. We ordered more and still the bill only came to €22.

Not only was this excellent value, the food was tasty and fresh and the service was wonderfully polite and friendly. We also found out that the establishment has been in the family for over 30years but the owners have only recently taken it back to run themselves.

We loved it and will definitely come back when we return to the Azores!!

First, I gotta say that I have generally been disappointed by the cuisine of the Azores. But my visit here changed everything. It is a basic menu, but they do a great job on the basics with their own special touch. For example, I have learned from experience to never order a hamburger in Europe, because they never get it right and there are better alternatives. But Summer Breeze makes a great burger with their Azorean touch. You can get it on the local bread (lightly toasted) and I think they put carmelized onions on it. It is really unique and perfectly executed. I also got the pork loin plate. It was great. Service was thoughtful and excellent. So go there - you will like it!

Azorean food can be a little heavy for lunch, so this is a great alternative. Simple fresh carrot soup and local fish fillets fitted the bill well. Craft beer available and good local (Pico) wines. Would be nice with a better outside sitting area, but lovely location.
