Full experience of Azores flavours with explanation of background. Great place if you want to taste something local or just have a tea or coffee in Furnas. I believe it’s best tea room/coffee place in region. We did not find any similar place at Saõ Miguel island. If you’re around, it is definitely worth visiting.

Excellent very personal and informative service. Extensive and very interesting selection of food made with ingredients from different Azorean islands. All foods sampled (cheeses, sausages, seaweed patties etc.) were very tasty and made with best quality ingredients. Excellent selection of local wines. The atmosphere was very relaxing and friendly - it was like being in a friend’s kitchen/dining room. We had two evening meals at the Chalet and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be back on our next trip to the Azores.

We ate lunch at this unique and tiny tea house, positioned very close to the Furnas caldeiras with views of the bubbling springs overlooking the river. The staff were keen to show their vast knowledge of the many Azorean teas on the menu, all served without a teabag in sight! We also chose some freshly prepared bruschettas with a topping of herbs and tomatoes, and some local pastries (from an extensive selection!). The cafe was once an old bath house and the old baths (no longer used!) form part of the unique decor. This is a tranquil and charming place to relax and savour the best of Furnas.

Wondering around in Furnas we stumbled uppon this charming little tea house. We were greeted by a young man that proved to be very knowledgeable about local history. All products are local including teas and cookies. The nice conversation with local tips and history was inspirational.
The place, originally a public bath from the end of the XIX century, has until today amazing details crafted in the decoration and the terrace offers one of the best landscapes of Furnas.
We will return for sure to this delightful place.

We had a nice small lunch in this little tea house. Off course we tried the local tea and really enjoined it! It is a really interesting place so close to the hot-springs. Unfortunately the weather was not so good on the day of our visit. So we couldn’t sit outside to enjoy the amazing view!
