Lovely place. Breakfast by the pool everyday with the sea just a little further. Breakfast was very good, great yogurt, fruit, honey, nuts. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Beach is stoney so you need water shoes to get into sea. Rooms a little small with very small showers that flood the bathroom. Apart from that the staff will do anything to help you, they were amazing!
Lots of great seafood restaurants nearby.
I would stay here again :)

Room tip: ask for a room with a seaview

We have just returned from 2 weeks in mid-July, staying at the Porto Ligia Hotel. It was our first visit to Lefkada.
We paid extra for a room with a sea view (worth doing). The outlook from the hotel is beautiful and calm.
You can sit at breakfast looking out over the pool, the lawn, the sea and the landscape beyond. Sailing boats drift by, gently giving constant change to the outlook.
Sunbeds (free of charge) always seem to be available on the lawn and by the pool.
The breakfast is self-service from a very wide range of cold foods. Very good.
The hotel staff are very friendly. Bed sheets are changed almost daily.
Hotel towels are available on request from the front desk, free of charge, for the pool and sunbeds.
We had dinner each day at several waterside tavernas and are very happy to recommend them all. Kanouria is probably the best and offers a marvellous Beef Stifado. The nearby Seven Islands has tables on the pebble beach, a great setting. Both allow beautiful views across the bay and are very popular. They are about 12 minutes' walk from the hotel. Makis is on a quayside nearer to the hotel and is slightly cheaper (and offers an excellent sea bass amongst other things!). Closer still to the hotel is Sto Limani, on the edge of a quayside car park, but with a couple of tables overlooking the bay; it is a more typical local Greek taverna with a more limited menu and again is slightly cheaper. We bought a medium-sized pizza at Giorgio's Pizzaria, which was excellent and enormous (and they do sell a still bigger one!), which we took down to the water's edge to eat.
We travelled with TUI and took three of their trips.
The Greek Night on the neighbouring island of Meganisi was excellent and good value: boat trip both ways, large and good Greek meal, wine and other drinks included in the price, Greek dancing demonstrated and then involving everyone (from many European nations). Great fun.
The Islands Tour took us to Meganisi, then to a Greek mainland beach for swimming and for a large barbecue lunch, boat trips around various islands with swim stops. Good commentary by the guide, Joanna (who also demonstrated the Greek dancing at the Greek Night above). A very enjoyable day out.
A coach trip took us through the island's Southern interior (very mountainous and beautiful) to one of Greece's most famous beaches at Porto Katsiki. A pebble beach, set one hundred steps down from the cliff top, looks out over fabulous turquoise-blue waters with strong waves at the water's edge. Sunbeds are available on the beach (but we were stunned to be charged 20 euros for 2 beds and a sunshade! We could only be there for about
2 hours before the journey home. You can always lie on the pebble beach for free and there is a further part of the long beach which is shadowed by the cliff, which overcomes the need for a sunshade!). Whilst a few food vendors wander along the beach, it is wise to take food with you or to buy it at the cliff top before descending the 100 steps.
We would be very happy to come back here to Porto Ligia again and had a great holiday.

It is a 70's hotel which was not renovated for many many years. Its so obvious that they only paint the hotel to look fresh. Bathrooms are old and need to be changed completely. Doors, cupboards, wood structures, reception, common area/breakfast furniture, are very very old. Veranda furniture is cheap. We had no internet in the room, just on the veranda! We told the reception and even though they were willing to correct it, we saw no improvement. There was no information leaflet in the room, so we did not know how to contact the reception, call other rooms, services offered etc. The hotel is situated on pebbled beach. Sea was dirty the days we stayed there. Pool was ok. View from hotel is nice and there are facilities nearby, i.e. restaurants, pharmacies, kiosks, supermarkets, small shops. I would not visit again this hotel.

We stayed here for the first two weeks in July and loved every minute of it. We were in room 222, which had a fabulous view around the whole bay and over to the mainland. Rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. Breakfast was plentiful and so peaceful to sit looking at the fabulous view whilst drinking good coffee and chilling. Plenty of well spaced out sunbeds, the pool was a gorgeous temperature and the sea clear as anything (beach shoes advised, as sea urchins and also a pebbly beach). A short walk to a smattering of good tavernas and the friendly Art Club Bar, where Spiro really looked after us. We couldn't fault anything with this hotel, fabulous staff and special shot out to Dimatris and Fortis (excuse the spelling) who worked on the beach bar and to our lovely cleaners Dina and Maria, who really looked after us. We will be back again, just fantastic.

Room tip: Room 222 had very good view around the whole bay and was nice and peaceful
