“Lovely villa, beautiful view”
Reviewed 18 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We stayed for a week in villa seaview in mid September. Landed at Chania and collected high car, drove for about an hour and 15 minutes before arriving. It was suprisingly easy to find but Carsten had supplied excellent directions which included pictures - very helpful! There is a small collection of villa's with villa seaview being right at the end, it was therefore arguably the most private and undoubtably had the best view. Lots of outdoor space and a small but private pool which was amazing especially given the 35 degree weather that week. The villa itself is bright, well looked after and it basically suplied everything you need from kitchen equipment to towels, bedding, adaptors and citronella candles. The bathroom is a touch small and I may have sacrificed the washing machine in there in favour of having a bigger shower but thats just personal preference. Sfakai is a 10 minute walk down the hill, there are some tavernas, a small supermarket and of course the beach. I would recommend a car, or the bus runs from the tourist information place regularly and tickets are cheap. Carsten was helpful and prompt with all communications. Would definately recommend this rental.

“Peaceful Bliss”
Reviewed 9 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

A very nice house, situated on top of a hill overlooking the bay with a great view of the sea and surrounding mountains. The house is very calm, secluded, and perfectly equipped and in an outstanding condition. A 10 minute trip by car takes you to the centre of Rethymnon, a beautiful old town with stone paths, lovely arches and a picturesque port lined up by delicious restaurants and nice cafeterias.

“Fabulous villa in excellent location”
Reviewed 9 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

I have just spent 2 lovely weeks at villa Seaview. The villa is lovely and modern and is furnished to a good standard.
The view was fantastic and the villa is in such a peaceful area. The pool was cleaned regularly and all outside facilities are of a good standard.
The area is not commercialized and you get a real feeling of being part of the community. All the locals are very welcoming and are happy to help out with anything.
I didn't hire a car and walked to the local tavernas' which took about 15 minutes. There is a local excursion office and trips are a reasonable cost. The yellow train is fab and really cheap to discover all the local area. There is a regular bus into Rethymnon and it only costs 1.8 euros. The market is on Thursdays.
I would definitely come back to this villa as I had a fabulous time and everything I needed was available in the villa.

“Lovely”
Reviewed 22 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Just spent a lovely 2 weeks at Villa Seaview, in Sfakaki.

The villa is quite comfortable and has everything you need...fridge, washing machine, AC etc - no internet though, but Taverna Pantelis just down the road has unsecured wifi (actually, a lot of places we went to have unsecured wifi so worth checking what's around you every now and again).
One thing though, the beds are very firm so if you're used to a soft mattress they may be difficult to sleep on. That is the only reason the villa does not get a 5/5 rating.

Outside the view out over the Cretan sea is nice and clear, and if you look hard enough you can even see the dome of the mosque at the Venetian fortress in Rethymno. The private pool is just the thing to cool down on a hot day too.

Sfakaki itself is pleasant enough with a couple of tavernas, a bakery and supermarket all within walking distance. Cafe Vasilis does the best stifado in town! About a mile to the west is a slightly more touristy strip with more shop and bars etc.

A car is useful, not going to lie. But if you do drive then heed all the advice and drive defensively. Locals will overtake when it looks like there really isn't room, and mopeds and scooters will pass on both sides. If you go into a town or city then expect some of the worst 'parking' you've ever seen. Cars will be just left in the road with their hazards on, double-parked and taking up a lane. Also be aware that there are precious few road markings to differentiate lanes and that traffic lights only exist in cities.
A sat nav or mobile phone app are essential for navigating as the road signage is, well, inconsistent at best. We found a sat nav would get us to the rough location but google maps on the phone would be very useful for that last half mile or so.

Most places will take a card for payment but cash is still king in Crete, so take plenty as ATMs are harder to find that you might think.

The bottom line is that the villa allows you to be as lazy and private as you like, but still being close enough to everything to do the touristy bits. In particular, the archaeological museum in Heraklion and the ruins at Festos (Phaestos?) are recommended. Oh, and Lake Kournas too.

“Lovely villa, exceptional location, great value”

Stayed at Villa Seaview for a week. On arrival we found it very clean, spacious and perfect for the two of us with everything in great working order. The location has a fantastic view across the hills, olive groves, mountains and the sea. The pool was perfect in the heat and sunshine, and was cleaned while we were there. Bathroom was fairly small but perfectly adequate for a couple. Kitchen had everything we needed. Short walk to the bottom of the hill to a small friendly Taverna called Andriana. Car recommended!
