We visited here with the recommendation of family members who now reside in local village. The drive from Piriana is not for the faint hearted as you drive up a steep hill-side with single track road and the views are fantastic. On arrival at El Canuelo the views over the countryside and lake are truly breath taking.
Now on to the food A lovely menu that's not too extensive and something to suit all tastes. We recommend sharing salad for starters (Moroccan) was lovely with olives. traditional food on offer with local dishes. Everybody have something different and enjoyed home made food.

a real gem if you know where to go and well worth the drive if you fancy a rural setting and prices ae very reasonable in comparison to tourist areas

Had dinner here last week with friends - the swordfish was filleted and delicious. Waiter was very helpful and allowed us to taste the wine before ordering a bottle or two! Prices were reasonable and credit cards accepted in this very small hamlet.

Myself and husband visited the restaurant as we were impressed by the reviews on Tripaddviser. However the only good thing was the view. But the view of lake viuella can be seen from many places. Moving on to the menu/food. First of all the menu had very little Spanish food i.e. no tapas or frittatas. There was however egg and chips and breaded chicken and chips. I'm vegetarian so I ordered a starter of goats cheese followed by stuffed eggplant (aubergine) My husband ordered a starter of chicken wings followed by a pork dish. My food was very very greasy and tasted bland. I still have no idea what the eggplant was stuffed with!!! My husband said the pork was "chewy" and not very tasty. So then we got our bill. 47 euros and we were shocked to find that we had been charged 10euros for two glasses of red wine. Outrageous as this was not a high class place and I've since dnot even a top class restaurant in Spain would charge this amount. The restaurant was empty apart from us and a couple who arrived later. It was Friday night and I'm really not surprised the place was empty. The staff were friendly when they were around but not available most of the time, very disappointed and don't recommend at all.

Another review says off the beaten track, that is an understatement if you come from Zafarraya. It's a single track dirt road. That said the good was fabulous so worth the drive. Oh opens for lunch at 13.00 not 12.00.

Had a meal here on our last night in Periana, good food, the Rosada fish was excellent, the rib eye a little undercooked even though we asked for medium. Worth going for the views. Easy to find and the staff were really lovely. Would go back
